Generally speaking we were happy with the service we have received in the last couple of years since opening the account. The problem we are facing is with the inability to do online banking while we are abroad. We are both retired and travel a lot. We were recently informed that in order to do any online banking, we had to have a UK telephone number where they could verify my identity by sending a text message. We will be traveling to India fairly soon and will no longer be able to use the UK number. Being unable to convince the bank employee that their insistence on sending a text message to verify my identity is not practical, I asked to speak to his supervisor. The supervisor was adamant that it was the bank’s policy and could not be changed. I explained to him that I also have bank accounts in the US and when appropriate, the US bank is able to verify my identity in other ways including sending me an email with an identification code. The supervisor again insisted that it was the bank policy to require me to have UK telephone number where they could text me. This means that I will be unable to log into my account when I am unable to receive a text message even though I am able to satisfy all other requirements to access my bank account. I am going to be forced to look for another bank in the UK that allows me to access my bank account with different procedures for verifying my identity whilst I am abroad.

I went to the bank last fews week! Then I just find out! All the staffs in there are very very racists! Not friendly and helpful at all! Never ever open bank account with them! I come to open the bank account to put money in! Not begging you to give me money! So don’t need to talk about me when I was waiting there! And the old lady who hold the writing board talk with her colleague then she pointed her finger on me !

Very rude and racist man! I think he was the assistant manager without any name tags very conveniently! I have been with metro bank for over 8 years but never felt this disrespected ever… I’m paying for a service so expecting politeness is not a special ask. He pretended to be super busy! Shame as other staff over the years have been very good. You could tell other staff are also feeling the pressure because the usual smiles were not there from other staff too! Very disappointing

Went to open account today, was recommended by others to use metro bank - quickly seated with a advisor.. that's as far as the good experience went!! The customer advisor had no customer service, could not answer questions I had about services being recommended by her with an attitude that showed she would rather be elsewhere other than work!! Avoid and use another bank instead like I ended up doing.

Thank you Lavanya who took time out of her lunch break to help assist us. She was so patient, kind and helpful. Also thank you to Priya who helped us with our account.

Went to the bank 2 weeks ago to request a cheque book…. The guy at the desk clearly didn’t send it as it was meant to be with me within a few days. A week later called metro and asked to send another cheque book, it’s now been another week the cheque book still hasn’t been delivered and actually I don’t think it’s ever been sent. Surely that’s not such a difficult job to do now I’ve had to delay my payment by 2 WEEKS because the guy at the desk can’t do his job properly

I went in on a Sunday to reset my online bank account details. The process was very smooth. The person who was supposed to help was unavailable but they put me on a waitlist and asked me to return after 30 minutes. I returned after said time and was assisted promptly without any delays. Very satisfactory setup and very helpful staff.
