Joke… been here 2 1/2hrs to make a straight forward bank transfer. I couldn’t do it online as above limit. Waited just about an hour then had to top up car park ticket. Then a further 30 minutes to see someone & no there not busy (3 people in here the whole time) various customers came up but went.. must be a common problem. Went through to do the bank transfer BUT they want me to sign against an undisclosed charge amount to be told it could vary!?! & if I didn’t sign it they wouldn’t process the transfer. They could change anything they like & you’ve sign for it. Be careful… I didn’t sign it & didn’t do transfer. Asked for manager-waited & had to retop up car park ticket to later be told she wasn’t available for another 2 hours… Joke…. I will be closing all my accounts with this bank after 35 years…

Took quite a while for my mum to open my junior account but it seems to work fine, useful as a savings account if you already have a pocket money card. Interestingly the junior card can be used to buy 18+ services

Very nice and friendly staff , very helpful closing down accounts of my recently deceased Mum and seeing me promptly, even when I didn’t have appt . Just a shame all local branches disappearing

No criticism of the counter staff, but customers should know that Barclays is still Europe's biggest investor in climate-wrecking fossil fuels. If you want a liveable planet and to be able to tell your children and grandchildren you did everything you could to stop the climate crisis, you could switch your bank account from Barclays to a more ethical bank.

Who you bank with affects your future and the future of your children. Barclays shareholders are not investing for good. They are investing in war and fossil fuels. Not in my name.

We have been operating a business account with Barclays for nearly 30 years. We are a local residents association. Barclays, for over the past year under the guise of fraud prevention, have been asking us to prove who we are and what our address is. Despite us having proved this a number of times. They keep coming back asking for the same information over and over again. Under the threat that they will close our account. Hours spent on the phone with them. Correspondence to their Business Manager of their Worthing branch totally ignored. This is the bank which has itself been accused of Libor fixing and other irregularities. A dreadful bank. We have moved our account from them and a further 5 accounts by associates. Avoid them.

Alison and Gail could not have been more helpful, reassuring and yet professional and I am grateful to them for their patience and time in sorting out a matter that a other department of Barclays HQ had messed up for 18 months.

This is not a criticism of branch staff but Barclays senior management. They claim to be committed to aligning their financed emissions with the Paris agreement but then went on to increase their financing of fossil fuel companies. If you don’t want your money being used to fund the climate crisis consider switching to a greener bank.
