Host was super friendly. Very convenient location. Love the old world decor, house style. Beds were very comfortable and clean. Windows can be opened to let fresh air in. Bathroom is cozy and convenient. Definitely a recommended place.

Location wise this place is amazing but that is pretty much where the good comments end. Bedroom is nice but it is structured in such a way that all the plugs are covered so if you want to charge a phone you need to rearrange the room and to top it off 1 of the 3 plugs were broken. Shower door is off its hinges and the drainage is horrible, always fun to shower with an inch of water soap and all other things floating around your feet. But all of this is liveable and acceptable regarding the price we payed and location but where I lost it was with breakfast. From insufficient milk, moldy bread, dreary and disconnected host, dirty cups and cutlery. I was vivid. So thanks for assuring me that I will never stay here again

The lodge was in a great location!! However there are lots of little things inside the lodge that need more attention, such as the breakfast (there was mouldy bread, not enough food for all guests), exposed wires in the room, some plugs in room not working, old party decorations left in room and bed felt inverted from use and age. The photos of the lodge on the booking site and what is actually looks inside do not match.

I waited 3 weeks to post this as I wanted to give the hotel time to respond to her email and letter (which they didn't)

My mum stayed here over the summer and these are the messages I received from her:
"first I couldn't get into the front door, then struggled with the bedroom door. Couldn't find the light switch in the pitch black room, then the bedside lamp didn't work so I followed the flex down to find it unplugged. The only sockets were the other side of the room under the window so I plugged in the lamp and it didn't work. Managed to switch the bathroom light on and the switch to the main room light was halfway down a wall" then "Now I can't get out of the room to see if anyone is around to help as the door handle is loose and doesn't turn properly! Good job I'm on the ground floor as if there was a fire I'd have to go out the window if I can open it" then "someone's deodorant set the fire alarm off when I was in the shower. Bathroom was clean but smelled of mildew" then "few cereal choices, 2 crumpets on the counter and some ham and cheese as well as a toaster" The lamp got replaced with one taken from another room, it worked but the shade was hanging off.

Parking: She was advised (and already paid £6/night) for parking, they charged us £15 when we got there for the first night and the car park was a good walk from the hotel and difficult to find for someone not familiar with the area. The second night she had to pay £12.50 when leaving the car park.

The whole experience was terrible and the lack of response to her complaints after has pushed me to leave this review for her. Don't go here, the location is good but that's where it ends. It's not worth it, there are plenty of hotels and BnBs in Canterbury to choose from.

**DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL**
**THEY DO NOT HAVE PARKING ONSITE, NO MATTER WHAT THE WEBSITE SAYS**

I’ll get the good stuff out of the way first, as it won’t take long.
1) The location was great - right in the city centre.
2) When we complained that the bathroom floor and toilet were covered in urine it was cleaned up.

That’s it.

The website advertises limited on site parking - what they mean by that is you will drive to the site, which is on a very small road with double yellow lines outside it, and be told on arrival that parking is £15 and a ten minute walk away. We had to pay it because we don’t know the area well enough to know whereas is available and at what cost.

At least after that we get to enjoy our room. Except that the room was so filthy we felt like we couldn’t even take our shoes off. As mentioned before the toilet and floor were covered in urine and stunk. The heating was on in the room and it was boiling. I opened the sliding glass door to the actual window, which was already open, and the door to the room blew open. We locked the door, but whenever there was a slight breeze it rattled and knocked which was so unsettling, but we couldn’t not have the window open due to the smell and the heat.

The walls were stained and disgusting. The fridge in the room had obviously been switched off before because the smell when you opened it was revolting. The lamps on the bedside tables were torn and covered in dust and webs.

We shut the window overnight and realised in the morning we couldn’t keep it open - the latch wouldn’t work and it kept slamming shut. We ended up having to jam it open using a bible we found.

We didn’t even look at the breakfast. I wouldn’t watch to touch or eat anything there, considering how disgusting the room was.

Do NOT book this hotel.

Had to leave early because one night there was too much. The pillows were awfully silky smooth and heat up very quickly. The beds were very itchy and creaky. I couldn't get to sleep until 2am in the morning. Bedside table turned out to be a fridge that didn't work.

Bathroom floor was sticky and there wasn't even a lock on the door. There was no hair or body wash like advertised on the website. There's a big £300 pound fine threat on the toilet seat. The water coming out the taps tasted suspicious so bought my own to avoid lead poisoning.

Breakfast was awful. The meat slices and yogurt was left out in the warm open air, despite there being a big space in the refrigerator. Disgusting. The toaster burned my pancake to a crisp. Coffee had sweaty patches floating in it and was cold.

The wire decorations hanging in staircase fall down if you brush past them, which is nearly impossible not to do because the stairs are so narrow.

I'm surprised this managed to get 3 stars considering the lack of quality and dishonesty when I compare to their website. If your looking for a comfortable place to stay, avoid this guest house.

Absolutely disgusting. I don’t understand how it is rated fair . The towels had someone’s make up every where . The double bed was to single beds together couldn’t sleep all night . They take the registration number to hint that they got their own parking . When you get there they don’t have no parking but they charge £15 for 24 hrs for a different parking place . Freezing cold no heating available. No extra duvets available. The ones we had even for summer they were too thin . We had to sleep with jumpers on . Absolutely disgusting. Please, please do not waste your money , your time to book . I wish I read the reviews before booking .

The best thing about this hotel is the location. There is no parking nearby you need to walk 15 minutes to the closest carpark. The rooms have old and damaged décor ours included a cracked sink & a shower with black mould. When I say shower - I have more water from a hosepipe than the shower in the room. The staff were friendly but I ended up carrying our bags up to the 2nd floor myself. The rooms are either on the first or second floor with very steep stairs.
