A place with lots of character. Stone flagged floors downstairs; comfortable, pretty bedrooms upstairs, and glimpses of real family life round corners. Lovely garden to explore, moorhens on the pond, rooks in the trees. Christine cooked us delicious breakfasts, and made us feel more like guests than customers.

Fyfield Manor is an absolute gem of a find in one of the prettiest parts of the country. Everything my partner and I expected and more! Easily the best of all our locations on a recent mini tour of England and Wales (and in our mutual experience easily one of the best places we've stayed anywhere!)

The attention to detail in the furnishings, the architecture, the features, everything is to the highest standard. We stayed in the Blue Room at the front of the house and we absolutely loved it. The bathroom was amazing, the bed was huge, the whole feel of the room was like stepping back in time to a simpler age. We read books and relaxed and had a wonderful sleep.

The next morning we had breakfast in the old dining room, which again was like stepping back in time. The care and love and energy that Christine and her family have put into this place is palpable. The breakfast itself was delicious, varied and very filling! Organic produce from local suppliers, very high quality.

Christine's knowledge of the history of the building is impressive, as was her mini guided tour of the house, pointing out all the features that they had discovered and restored. This is a family home that they have opened up to appreciative guests. If you want the hotel experience, stay in a hotel. This is a guest house, in the old-fashioned and charming sense, a very personal, personable and personalised experience.

The other rooms look lovely and we hope we can return to experience the different ambiences. We especially liked the look of the Old Nursery, with its views out back towards the countryside and the fabulous wet room.

We spent the rest of the morning walking around the gardens, highlights including the 18th century dovecote, and soaking in the rays of the morning soon, whilst standing on the gently-frosted grass, listening to the babbling brook wash by. Such a relaxing time here at Fyfield Manor. How could anyone fail to appreciate the love put into this place?

Stay a while - you'll love it - we did and we'll be back!!!

We stayed at Fyfield Manor over Easter and had the most marvellous time. The manor is just outside the village of Benson and has a small stream running through the front garden, probably connected to the watercress beds in the next village. Christine Brown and her husband were most welcoming; he happened to be the bricklayer that afternoon and Christine showed us to a large airy room with views overlooking the garden and one of the largest barns I’ve seen. The tea making tray was there waiting for us. Christine had all the local knowledge we needed to find the right place for supper, the perfect woodland to bike through bluebells and the most interesting historic houses within the few miles of Benson.
The breakfasts were a tour de force; you could have almost anything. The first morning was scrambled egg and smoked salmon and the second morning – poached egg on avocado toast, plus organic cereals and toast with local jams.
The noisy neighbours were a flock of rooks nesting in the trees along the stream; they fell silent at dusk and we slept soundly. The plumbing made us laugh in the morning, but it all seemed to fit in this special place.

My mom and I had an incredible time at Fyfield Manor. The owners are incredibly welcoming with great suggestions about the sights to see in the area. We received impeccable hospitality during our stay. I would highly recommend it!

We loved staying at Fyfield Manor - a unique historic country house. I'm still waxing lyrical! Christine was charming - an attentive and kind host - nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in the Blue Room which was huge with its brand new plush carpet and pretty panelling. The views from the bedroom were stunning and overlooked a stream, pond and cornfield. Beds were super comfy with crisp white cotton bedding. Christine provided fresh milk every evening for our tea and tasty ground coffee and biscuits were available. Breakfasts were brilliant with grilled local produce. Walks around the Manor were delightful too. An amazing variety of trees and shrubs. Great to see an abundance of wildlife including a song thrush (first for ages!) and red kites. I could go on ...!

We had an amazingly pleasant stay here! Christine was an absolute star - very caring and attentive to our needs at all times.

We will definitely be returning for a visit when freedom allows it, as it is the perfect escape from the stresses of city life, to somewhere picturesque and unique.
