We treasure our time in this special part of Scotland. Being secure and comfortable in this dreamy spot adds to our pleasure. Willie Dickson is the most complete host in the most comfortable relaxing country house. Do ask him to prepare you dinner - he is a fine chef. Well worth a detour.

Found this place by chance, and what a find! Stunning location/setting. Ideal to break the journey en route to Isle of Mull and beyond. Wish we had stayed longer in the area so will endeavour to revisit. Willie the host couldn't provide a warmer more hospitable welcome. The house is fascinating and original in almost every way and worth a visit for this alone. Breakfast was fresh and locally sourced. Top marks.

Excellent, excellent, excellent. The house is grand, the interior full of interesting things and the bedrooms are well furnished and very comfortable. Keeping the old bathroom fittings here and there, everything worked well and was charming. The best bit was Willie - the owner and host who was extremely generous and helpful. Don't hesitate to have supper - ours was great. Bring wine!

Chipperkyle, and its phenomenal host Willie, made for the most remarkable and memorable start to our Scottish break. The location is perfect for exploring Dunfries and Galloway and the house is set in the most stunning farmland, perfect for a post-breakfast walk or a pre-dinner wander. Our room, "the nursery" was warm, clean, light and cosy with a big comfortable bed and delicious local biscuits to accompany our tea. Our bathroom was just down the corridor, with a big bathtub, shower and hand-painted "hippo tiles". The house is truly a home and Willie makes you instantly feel like a friend, rather than a guest. Opposite our room was a stunning dining room with a drawing room to the side. These rooms made us want to return in the winter to enjoy a warm fire and explore the excellent selection of books on offer. We decided to dine at home and Willie cooked us the most divine supper served al fresco, overlooking his rolling fields and farmland. No midgies were present!! Willie created such a relaxing atmosphere and we enjoyed a really jolly evening with the other couple staying at Chipperkyle. Breakfast was hearty and set us up for part two of our Scottish adventure. We cannot wait to return and enjoy this very special place with a very special host.
