Much more of a place to visit and walk round than to stay. The publicity for the place makes it sound more like the other way round. I was expecting a hotel with a few rooms to visit but it's a manor house to visit with a couple of rooms to stay in. Very authentic decor, gardens a little plain, liked the peacocks. Worth a visit.

My family and I have visited this beautiful place several times before, however I'm trying to understand why we were met with such rudeness from the female owner today. We will not visit again which is very sad. They also would have made some money out of us today too.

A place of tranquility and serenity; where you can really embed yourself in a bygone era. Beautifully and sympathetically restored to bring history to life. It is not a place to be invaded by photographs indoors as it is a home and should be respected for that.

Amazing beautiful castle, feel the atmosphere of Tudor times, untouched!
Lovely people.

Great castle, strange experience though. Walked through a corridor and saw someone in Old fashioned clothing run in the adjacent hallway. Went to see if they were OK, but no one there. Extremely cold in that corridor too. It sounded like there was a dog in the wall too, but then it could have just been creaking as it is an old castle. Good stay though, strange experience added to the mysterious atmosphere.

Lovely afternoon out. Self guided tour gives you plenty of time to have a look around the house, plenty of information sheets to explain as you go. Very nice gardens with some very interesting water features. Lots of peacocks and peahens wandering around.

Seems a little known place, I'd lived nearby many years before hearing about it. Beautiful house, lovingly restored. The gardens are so tranquil and well kept. My kids love visiting, particularly to see the peafowl. Thanks

What a litlle gem! A stunning piece of history lovingly restored against all the odds by its owners. A beautiful Manor house and grounds with trees planted in Charles I era. Gorgeous cakes from the local bakery served in the grounds amongst the resident peacocks. A wonderful place.
