They helped me out big time - front wheel hub bearings shot in the middle of a challenge for charity only bike shop in oxford to invite me in to help. Gave me the tools to change tyre onto new good quality wheel got me up and running again very very helpful highly recommend!

Thanks Andy!

Warlands is a fine example of a traditional bike shop with knowledgeable, friendly and extremely experienced staff. I have used then twice through lockdown, firstly to repair Sturmey Archer 3 speed gears on a 40 year old Raleigh Superbe and secondly to service and update software on two new Brompton Electrics. Faultless, quick and efficient service on both occasions and very good value. Thoroughly recommended and approved.

Brilliant service! I was cycling to city centre last Friday, and only when I reach city centre I realised one of the jockey wheels in the rear derailleur was snapped off. I went to two bike shops in city centre, and they were 10 mins from closing and didn’t want to help me. They both suggested me to try another bike shop. When I reached Warlands, even though they were packing up for closing, Ben, the bike engineer was happy to take a look for me, looked for the part and installed it for me. He also did his best to help me fix the other associate problems, but in the end he didn’t charge for the service because he wasn’t happy with the results and asked me come back the next day for another inspection. I was busy this weekend, but I’ll definitely go back and pay for the service that he kindly offered!

The servicemen at Warlands were incredibly rude to me. I went to get my tyre pressure checked and they shamed me for being a woman and not doing it myself. They gave me the pump and told me with contempt to take care of it. One of them also repeatedly mortified me by remarking once and again that women can also pump tyres, that men and women are equal, and that therefore I’m an embarrassment to my gender. What do they know why I don’t want to do it myself? I don’t have to explain my reasons to get this service done for me to them or anyone. Not to say that they have a very faulty and limited notion of gender and of how gender equality works. I’m paying them to deliver a service for me. If they don’t offer that service, fine, I’ll go somewhere else, but no need to humiliate me. In the end, one of them did it and didn’t charge, but it was extremely uncomfortable. To add insult to injury, I had bought my bike and all accessories from them. Please, ladies, don’t go to this place.

This bike shop is a rare gem. Steve and Andy are not only bike fanatics and fountains of knowledge and good advice, but are also among the nicest and most interesting people you'd meet. Everyone working in the shop appears to share their enthusiasm and expertise. The shop itself - a real Oxford institution! - is atmospheric and charmingly chaotic, perhaps like all bike shops used to be but usually aren't any more. Buying my Brompton P-Line from them was simply a pleasure, and every interaction with the shop thereafter has left me with a smile - they are just wonderful!

A bit hit and miss. Sometimes extremely helpful, but I've had some staff be very rude as well. I stopped by once to have something very simple adjusted on my bike, which would likely take about a minute. Instead of helping me, or telling me that they were busy and to come back another time, the staff member made me feel like an imposition. They spent quite a few minutes telling me how I might fix the issue myself, and how they could do it very quickly – which actually took much longer than if they had just fixed it. They said if they spent a couple minutes fixing issues for everyone who came in the store, they would not have time to do anything else, but the store was empty at the time. I understand store owners can be busy, but I do not think it is very clever to tell a customer who comes to your *bike* store asking for their *bike* to be fixed that they are stopping you from getting other things done.

Lovely service, and give me so much advice for free when I come in with noob questions. Just this morning the owner put oil in my bike lock to fix it for me.
