Came across this great little bike shop before taking part in a triathlon in Alpe d'huez....Cycle surgery couldn't advise me about gear ratios and so I popped in here instead. The owner really knows about bikes and assured me that what I had on already would be more than adequate...worth bearing in mind I told him I was pretty well willing to spend whatever was needed...He also advised me on tyre pressures for cycling in the heat and gave the bike a quick service. Since then I have bought a claud Butler cyclo cross from him and over time he has fitted various upgrades that have made the bike my ideal commuter/ tourer...Today's upgrade was a set of Avid bb7 disc brakes and rotors...He also helped me fit a yepp mini baby seat (purchased elsewhere as "big cycles" have bought up all the supply deals) to the bike. I have purchased great lights and a cool cinelli hat from here as well as a vaude ladies cycle specific backpack for my wife...great quality and value...All in all the ideal local bike shop...thanks as ever.. The rudest bike shop I’ve ever been in. I phoned about the price to fix my puncture and when I arrived he tried to charge more because I brought my own spare as I said I would. He rudely said “I’m not being rude but if you don’t like it go somewhere else.” So I did. What a bad experience

To your reply mr owner, actually I told you on the phone and you changed your price when I arrived and you were bloody rude. Instead of being rude to customers and replying to their annoyed comments, treat them with a bit more respect in the first place and you won't get bad reviews.

Otto helped me very quickly with a bike that Halfords had very badly put together for me. Within an hour he had solved the problem and given me some tips. Highly recommend. Really lovely guy

WOW I HAVE NEVER MET ANYBODY SO HONEST IN MY LIFE....HALIM YOU ARE A DIAMOND...Thankyou
I have lived in two different countries, cycled for 25 years and i have never in my life met a bike mechanic in a bike shop who has been flatly honest. I was going to another shop for years, but its a pain to get to, i decided to give future cycles a go, as its not to far to walk. I took my bike in as there was something not right, now this issue i have had before, and i thought right i probably need a new wheel and its going to be pricey, i am not working at the moment so money is tight. I was thinking I'll use my credit card and when i get a job i can pay it off. Halim told me what my issue was, was not what i thought it was going to be and fixed the problem with no lies, to swindle money out of me. In the past this has happened to me, i have probably been lied to and made to pay a lot to fix minor issues. Now first time in my life i have an honest mechanic, and first impressions stick with me. My old bike shop well im saying goodbye to them, and i will be coming to further cycles from now on. I am an honest person, i write honest reviews and this is a true story, i am actually so surprised this even happened THANKYOU SOOOOOO MUCH 200/100

They turned my bicycle into a far better one (and undid the mess made of it by a mechanic at Halfords which taught me a lesson!) I couldn't recommend them enough. Bicycle brain surgeons really. I rode away on what felt like a brand new machine.

AVOID - INCOMPENTENT, NEGLIENT, UNCARING
£55 brake service left my static pads fully recessed and causing a lot of noise. When I returned the following day complaining about the squeaking, he blamed the quality of my year-old, £500 bike.
When I returned two months later, after a simultaneous brake failure sent me flying into a fence, he gave a cursory, dismissive glance at the bike and made the same excuse, either unwilling or incapable of working out why the brakes were completely ineffectual.
I know I was horribly naive to buy his latest claim that, like the squeaking, this fault was down to the quality of the bike not his neglient work, but I don't know much about bikes and assumed no one would deliberately mislead me to such an extent when the risks involved were so potentially fatal.
When I took the bike to another repair shop, they diagnosed the issue within 30 seconds and were gobsmacked that a bike shop would ever position the brakes in such a way.
Needless to say, when I returned with this knowledge he treated me with contempt and after the briefest of discussions shouted at me to leave his shop.
Had my brakes stopped working in a similar way 30 seconds earlier or later than they did, I would most likely be dead.
Do not use or trust this cyncical, incomptent and uncaring man

Well, apparently it was ok to leave me for 2 month with half job done.
They didn’t bother to contacting me for an update on the part I was waiting for and didn’t do anything to fix their own mistakes. Actually, they just washed their hands and decided it wasn’t worth it to keep me as a client.

Truly disappointed and stunned by incompetence in dealing with customers and with an easy fix. They just seen easy money for an easy task that they couldn’t even complete.
Please read below if you want to hear more: 👇🏼

I went to the shop to change both tyres on my road bike.
I asked to mount the largest tyres possible on my road bike and they suggested a pair of Schwalbe Marathon Plus 700x28c front and rear.
I accepted the quoted price and left them the bike.
I went back home as the bike supposed to be ready in 2h, but I received a call few minutes later as they realised the 700x28c wasn’t fitting on the front wheel (they probably tried).
They didn’t suggest downgrading both to 700x25c (so remove the one already installed) to have the same ones on, instead they said that for many people it’s ok to fit a smaller tyre on the front wheel.
They asked me if it was ok to leave the back tyre on, as already installed , and to order the 25c tyre for the week after.
I accepted (by mistake) and waited for a life time (2 months) without even a courtesy call.
I had to chase them every how to check if they received the tyre.
Apparently this type of tyre isn’t available anymore and “hard” to find (probably they should have inform themselves before).
For different reasons I haven’t used the bike at all since then, so the tyre hasn’t been used a part for 10min in total (on street) to come and go from home to the shop (not because I have chose to, but because they couldn’t keep my bike in the shop).

I went there again today, asking for a solution, and that I wanted both tyres to be possibly the same.
The guy in the shop wanted to mount a different tyre at all costs, so I thought it was legit to ask him to change both tyres, and take the Schawlow tyre back as it was basically new.
On this terms, the guy completely changed approach and said “I can’t do nothing about that”, and he turned the back to me and went back working on someone else’s bike.
Even after their misjudgment in what tyre size to instal, after wasting my time and after my good faith in them, they just decided it wasn’t worth it and get rid of the client, leaving me with the job half done.

My road bike it’s nothing special.
It’s good enough to commute to work, but probably if you don’t have a thousand pounds bike, you don’t deserve a nice treatment and they feel entitled to turn you down like that.

I love independent shops, and I believe they should be supported, but some businesses owner really needs to help themselves. Look for other independent bike shop that actually deserve your money.

To conclude I know they have deals with their suppliers, but the unreachable ghost Schwalbe tyre I just bought it on Amazon. Speechless…

Good luck to them!

Needed a full 5k service at very short notice and they did a brilliant job. (The other local place in Muswell Hill said I'd have to wait 5 weeks...) Sourced parts immediately and charged very fair prices. Bike rides like new. As friendly as a LBS should be. I won't go anywhere else.
