The layout of this store is generally unpleasant especialy upstairs. There is too much clear space between few displays of books. I can't imagine that dining in the cafe is a pleasant experience right next to this bad design. The book selection is not great but alright compared to the other ones I've visited. The staff are also not unpleasant which can't be said for the Cheltenham store. Kids section is also good.

A trip into Gloucester isn't complete without a trip to Waterstones.
Staff are so lovely and helpful and happy to advise.
We can easily lose 45 minutes in here seeking out the next book to lose ourselves in
Time in a bookshop is always time well spent

Waterstones is always a nice friendly shop I use it quite often, my wife goes to have coffee with her friends once a week. I did go in there last week looking for a computer book I went upstairs and went all around but could not find where they used to be. I did try to inquire where they kept them now, but they were so busy no one was free.

I’ve found Waterstones to be a great book shop at all the locations I’ve visited and this Gloucester branch is no exception!
They have a large selection of easily searchable books with plenty of room to pass other patrons, a nice collection of book related accessories, and card games and potential gift items by the counter. Comes with a nice atmosphere and that fresh book aroma to boot.

Our Waterstones of choice. Fabulous team working here. They are always welcoming and very helpful. Great range of books and great coffee and a good range of cakes and sandwiches in the cafe. Highly recommended.

I love the place! It’s got a tiny lovely cafe on the top floor, ideal for reading and working.
It’s a lovely place to find anything from board games to books in very reasonable prices.
The place is well organized and I love the old bookshop style when I walk in.

Easy to find your way around. Bit disappointed that in my 20 minutes there the only member of staff who spoke to me was the lady on the till. Are the staff allowed to talk to customers? The overall impression was a neat and tidy shop which seems to be self service as very few members of staff seemed to be on duty that day.

The male bookstore staff is not as friendly as his female colleagues. The bookstore currently offers discount on hard cover. But he charged full price. He only corrected this after I asked. He didn't even apologize. His face told me that it's not mere slip of mind. Check before you pay.
