Update: fair play to the owners, but when the Omicron wave hit, they replaced their “mask-free zone” sign with one encouraging customers to wear masks again.

Previous 1 star review:

In the middle of a pandemic, the owners (in their eighties) think it’s a good idea to ignore public health experts and declare their shop a mask-free zone.

Masks are no silver bullet, but as part of a layered set of measures they help reduce transmission and prevent further lockdowns. This isn’t a matter of opinion, it has now been put to the test using randomised control trials.

We used to enjoy paying The Idler a visit every few times we came to Hadleigh. We haven’t bought anything from Amazon in four years because we love supporting independent bookshops and buying second hand.

Now they’re telling a large proportion of their customer base that we’re no longer welcome.

I really hope they reconsider, but until they do, they’ve lost a customer.
