This used to be a charming vibrant country pub with exquisite cuisine, fine wines and ales and crisp white tablecloths overlooked by attentive staff and a colourful proprietor.

Today, it still has the look of days gone by from the outside but inside the dining rooms have been transformed into something resembling a hunting lodge and small banqueting hall. We sat in a room with banquet type seating which gave good privacy with their high backs but have been designed for matchstick people with hard cushioned upholstery and bolt upright backs.

The service was attentive and polite. The menu is compact and pub like. The wine list is extensive with no indication of ales or lagers, you need to ask . My partner had white fish which they were unable to take off the bone and I had a burger. Both meals were good but unremarkable. I needed to ask for ketchup which arrived in a refilled overflowing mini ketchup bottle! Apart from the uncomfortable seating, the main thing that spoiled the experience were flies... lots of them. We spent the whole meal constantly swishing them away. I don't think I have ever seen anything like this! I hope for the restaurant's sake this is a temporary blight. The staff seemed unaware of the problem?

We went at lunchtime on Wednesday. At 1.30 we were the only diners until two ladies turned up with reservations? Perhaps news of the flies had got out. Anyway, on any other day or evening, sans files, this may well be a very vibrant and fun place to eat. It has a beautiful country setting and it even has a hotel annex although on our visit it was a ghost town.

Pleasant and friendly staff. Old fashioned pub style furnishings. Good range of beers and ciders. Good choices on the menu. Tasty food. Good sized fish in fish and chips and traditional pie for steak and ale pie. Good range of deserts including ice creams.
Car park opposite. Adjacent car park has Tesla charging points.

This used to be the most wonderful place however, the sound insulation between each room is awful, the beds are so soft it just feels like they haven’t been replaced in years. Mostly though the food is really bad breakfast and dinner and it’s VERY expensive. We paid £170 for dinner for two people and described it as ‘mush’. If you can avoid, don’t get caught out by the nice interiors and cosy setting.

Far too expensive, boring menu. Not a salad in sight for lunch. Hummus was dry, tasteless and not at all good. The meal also took far to long to arrive. Waitresses were pleasant, but one was not dressed at all appropriately for waiting tables. Long false nails and a dress that was too short. Very distracting for everyone. We were there to enjoy each others company and good food. That is not what happened

What can I say, I have never been so disgusted as I have been by my treatment from this establishment, I had a small complaint about being charged £25.00 for three smallish scallops served as a main course, but could not speak on the evening as I was not paying. The following day I telephoned and left a message and also emailed, no response, I forwarded the email again, nothing, I have telephoned again twice with a promise the manager will get right back to me, but nothing. Three scallops for £25.00 is frugal in the extreme, just look what The Ivy offer. This was a minor issue that has grown into one the leaves a very bad taste, it appears the attitude is lets rip off the customers and if the don't like it they can get lost.
A shame good decor, friendly staff, but something seriously wrong with the senior management.

We booked The White Horse for our wedding reception initially because we wanted a pub with accommodation. We have a young child so it was important we could put him to bed on site and we always wanted a simple and relaxed pub for after the formalities of the ceremony.

I remember the first day setting foot in The White Horse for an initial look around and I was completely taken aback. It was perfect. The look and feel of the pub was just what we wanted and it lent itself so nicely for our autumnal wedding in the countryside, plus we barely needed to touch it with decorations.

The food is fantastic, the rooms are all beautiful, and the staff are nothing short of superheroes.

We had canapès and Prosecco on arrival (the chicken satay was a firm favourite). We didn’t want a sit down meal so opted for bowl food served wherever you were and it worked just how we wanted it to. All of our guests were very complimentary of the food and they raved about the service.

We can’t thank Julie, Sarah and the rest of the team at The White Horse enough for making our day so perfect, and we highly recommend The White Horse as a venue. (We even got a cute card and pressie to congratulate us.)

We will definitely be back for anniversaries and any other excuses we can make. (We might even try and sneak into someone else’s wedding just to experience it all again!)

Great accommodation. The staff were very hospitable too. We had the Muddy Paws package as we had a dog. This includes 2 cocktails, a dinner allowance, and an extra sausage at breakfast for your dog. Unfortunately my wife had to ask for the breakfast sausage for our dog and ask regarding how the voucher and cocktails were claimed. Very small and not a gripe, maybe it could be explained when people check in. A beautiful venue though and we will definitely be back.

Seemed a lovely pub, sunny terrace beautiful day, good menu and tesla chargers, all looking good. Despite being very quiet refused to serve us lunch in the sunshine outside 😕
