My wife and I enjoyed a perfect stay. The atmosphere is great. The staff has been very kind and friendly. The room where we stayed was tidy, clean and comfortable.
We hope to have the opportunity to join them again.

Quaint quintessential village pub. Excellent service and food. A recommended country pub for a well presented meal. The venison was superb. Definitely book to secure a table at usual popular times. £££.

Good meal but maybe a bit pricey for what it was. Disappointing that most of the desserts were not home made. Good service. Quiet so a bit lacking in ambience but a lovely building.

Really lovely country pub/restaurant. Friendly staff, cosy atmosphere and great food.

The only reason it didn't get a 5* review is because the price point is slightly too expensive for the starters and puddings! £8.50 for a few calamari and £12.50 for one piece of toast with crab and Avocado...😵‍💫

Mains were acceptable price wise and very good portions..I had the beef roast and my partner had the burger and although his burger was £16 he did advise that it was worth it - he is a bit of a burger connoisseur 🤣

Favourites were the cauliflower cheese gratin and the creme brulee, both were utterly delicious!😍

Desperately poor from start to finish and 1 star is too generous. Awful service, awful food, zero atmosphere for Christmas. Crackers were an afterthought and table not even made up properly when we arrived. Having chosen our courses well in advance of the day, they knew exactly what food to prepare and yet it was awful. The starter was cold and not cooked sufficiently and very mediocre, the turkey main was like a school dinner with a gravy slick all over it, roast potatoes showed no evidence of crispness and was less than average. The saving grace was the Christmas pudding - probably bought in, but tasted ok. Virtually no breaks between courses, and definitely felt like we were being rushed through as they wanted everyone out. Sure enough, no sooner had we started our coffee, when we were told they were closing at 5pm - our booking clearly stated the sitting was until 5.30pm. Why on Earth do they bother opening at all if they don’t want to and are incapable of doing it well?! Worst dining experience of the year definitely and won’t be returning, nor sending any of my guests there again.

Went here for Boxing Day lunch and the menu was so reduced (breakfast/ brunch foods only - no sides, starters) and nothing like the menu on the website. We were really disappointed, especially having been here before and having had a lovely lunch previously.

Only giving 1 star because I cannot give 0 stars. My family and I had the displeasure of having Christmas lunch today at The Royal Oak. Having been a local for years we were appalled at the experience.
The table was not set meaning we had to ask for cutlery (no placemats, crackers, salt and pepper on the table etc). The food was cold, akin to the standard you would expect from the Harvester not a gastro pub. Most of the food (mince pies, gravy, cheese straws etc) were bought in and not prepared in house. We were asked to leave because they were closing at 5pm even though our reservation was until 5.30pm. The staff were miserable and didn’t say hello or wish us merry Christmas. They acted like they were doing us a favour for being there even though they were foul from start to finish. The worst dining experience I HAVE EVER HAD. I will never be eating in this establishment ever again.

Ruined my Christmas. The worst dining experience I have ever had. I would not recommend eating here ever, let alone on Christmas Day
