Extremely friendly and smiling staff. Decent food and good food. At The time of our travel we were the only one there and were pampered by the staff. Will advise all travelers to take a pit stop at this place.

Not impressed …. One person serving tables waited 11/2 hrs for our food due to staff shortages . There were 16 of us admitting it would take some time to serve us , surely the manager would have seen the diary noted it would be busy and organised his staff differently.
The three lads were run ragged still smiling and polite, they didn’t have time to clear tables or collect glasses come on Mr Manager do your job you should have been there to help out.
A lot of people complaining if you sit back you won’t have any staff . If I were in their position I would have walked out .

We went in November so it was pretty much dead. Most of our pub grub was decent, although the steak was a bit chewy. Nice pool table, friendly staff.

Having owned a caravan on the site for the last 2 years, I've tried Sunday dinners all around the gower. Hands down the Sunday roast at the purple badger is the best in the west. Opted for the mixed meat roast . Plenty of each of meat (turkey, beef and pork). Home made Yorkshire, wide variety of vegetables. Taste like a home cooked dinner. 5 star food , 5 star staff , 5 star service and a great atmosphere . Cannot fault it

Traditional gastro pub inside, spacious but dated decor, food is good and reasonably priced. Outside area is really nice and worth going there for.... Large playground and ample tables outside with beautiful view of the Marsh and estuary with sunsets galore.

Absolutely awful, the person behind the bar had a very, very bad attitude, I would go so far as to say that neither he nor the chef should be working in the customer service/hospitality industry. We booked for Christmas eve, and thought that we may be late so I called to ask if that would be okay, after some huffing and puffing the person said they would ask the chef if that was okay, a word to the wise, don't take the phone into the kitchen so that the customer can hear the whole conversation, the chef was extremely unhappy but agreed that it would be, begrudgingly, okay. So we duly arrived, and thankfully we weren't late. We waited at the bar, finally ringing the bell for sevice, we were eventually served by the person who I had spoken to on the phone, we ordered our drinks, which rather that being put in front of us, were bizarrely, placed out of reach. We were shown to a table, it would have been helpful if the person who served us had told us that we needed to order at the bar, we discovered this after about half an hour, we had asked the person if we could order but he must have felt like that was a inconvenience to him as he still didn't have the courtesy to tell us we needed to order at the bar. Finally we spoke to another member of staff, Marley (?) who was lovely and very apologetic, explaining that we needed to order at the bar, so we finally placed our order. Surprise, surprise, the food , when it did finally arrive, was cold and unappealing, we would have been better staying at home.
I would steer clear of here. It used to have such a good reputation, unfortunately due to a minority of staff and their attitude, it seems that is is now a mere shadow of the place it was.
