Quality control is appalling! Just looking at the sweet stuff among the desserts they offer in their buffet, from picture evidence, they look months old! Complained about them and we’re told “these are meant to be hard candy”. Please, someone tell me if these sweets really are meant to be rock hard when bought and opened fresh from the packet? Of course not! Food isn’t labelled correctly, for example, the container had fish fingers in it but was labelled as sesame prawn toast. The so called lemon chicken tastes nothing like it, and is just as impossible to chew as the “hard candy”! Do not eat here! They will say something to justify themselves when you complain and you will not get anywhere near your money’s worth!

At just £15 per person, KUNGFU ORIENTAL BUFFET offered incredible value for money with its huge variety and above average quality!

First, the caveats, my visit was 18:00-19:30 on a quiet Thursday evening in late February. I had walked past the previous evening and decided to look up the reviews.
I’m not sure I went to the same restaurant. It’s a well maintained, bright, clean and well equipped space with nice fixtures and fittings, good lighting and the buffet selection is excellent. The staff where polite but not oppressive. Any requests seemed to be greeted well and explanations given if requested.
I can see that due to the nature of the bain marie system the food didn’t feel as if it was freshly served from a nuclear furnace, but the covers kept the sauces acquiring the rhino skin which can be the curse of a buffet.
There was a good salad and fruit selection and whilst the cook to order stations where not operating (it was a quiet evening) there was a great selection. The deserts wouldn’t win patisserie of the year but sweetened the mouth at the end of your meal. Refill drinks represented good value too.
I can honestly say I was pleased I’d not been been put off by some of the less generous reviews.
Plus, they must have the prettiest washroom on Earl’s Court Road :)

Great little authentic Chinese restaurant. Lovely staff great food and nice atmosphere u til someone let the kids out and then for some reason they were screaming the place down hence the missing star.

The owners of this restaurant has changed and it’s now not a buffet restaurant anymore.
They now specialise more on authentic Chinese noodle soup dishes and other regional Chinese dishes.
They have now upstairs seating and still plenty of space downstairs.
The lamp noodle soup was actually really good but the beef one was disappointing as it had no taste almost if the chef forgot to season it.
Overall positive change.

We ordered Lanzhou noodles, spicy beef noodles, a pork Bao and some fried gyoza. The green handmade noodles were nice. A little soft for me, I would prefer them a little chewier. The pork in the bao was nice too (if a little sweet for my partner) and the dumplings were fine. The soups were super bland though. The Lanzhou just tasted like unsalted noodle water (I'm aware it's supposed to be a light beef broth). The spicy noodles had more flavour but weren't spicy or particularly beefy. The bao dough was so sad though... I wish it had been fluffier or richer. Just over £20 each plus a 12.5% service charge but wait, there's an option at the bottom of the bill to add a 15/18/20% tip on top (percentage is of the bill total including service charge). Seems pretty cheeky to ask for the tip... My partner said it was the most disappointing meal she'd had in a while
