I have been visiting Cafe Zest in House of Fraser for years, in fact it's my favourite place for coffee and to meet up in the city. Not any more. My choice of treat is a scone, and I have had way too many in Cafe Zest! They are always sitting there all piled up and warm fresh out of the oven and I generally can't resist. On my last two visits however the scone has been stale, and clearly from the day before. I did challenge the young girl working in there the most recent time and she assured me they were fresh. A fib I'm afraid as I know a fresh scone when I see one!! Anyone who know's anything about baking will tell you that you can't serve day old scones, they're dry and nasty. I know H of F are in terrible trouble, but serving rubbish and lying to your regular customers is not a good thing. Won't go in there again.

Lunch with a friend. They had an offer on lunch for two for £9.99. panini each and shared bowl of chips...just what the doctor ordered on a a shopping trip. Order didn't take long to arrive. Restaurant was clean & tidy and staff friendly

Went for lunch asked for 2x soup but they only had one portion left this was at only 12.45 so we had 1 soup and one rissoto. Portions were small and pricy for what you got. On the plus side the soup was tasty.

Staff sleep walking. Not paying attention when taking order. Several time got wrong order and missed items

The coffee was fine. The cheese scone, though large, was a bit heavy and doughy.
