Really friendly and stunning location and cake.
Found this tea room while on a bike ride. Warm welcome and even better homemade cakes. Great seating inside and loads outside overlooking the canal

Our first visit, which was for lunch with my parents and we were extremely impressed. The place was immaculate, staff very friendly and welcoming. Food was well cooked and presented. A steady flow of people arrived during our visit.
There was four of us on this visit and we had jacket potato with tuna, winter vegetable soup and blue cheese with bacon beefburgers.
The staff seemed willing to assist with any diet requests, as some other customers ordered drinks with different milk types such as coconut milk and this was not a problem.
After lunch we treated ourselves to their tempting cakes and again we were very impressed.
As it was January and a bit chilly we ate indoors, but in the milder months there is extensive outside eating/garden area available with views directly onto the canal.
We will definitely be returning to this tearoom.

Set in a lovely location right by the canal, and outside decor is really nice.

However the coffee is potentially the worst coffee I've ever been served in a cafe. Tastes of absolutely nothing and the staff clearly had zero clue or interest in producing a good drink. Also for some reason the server topped up my flat white with boiling water, which was most strange. Still charging the same prices as somewhere that has spent time and money on good equipment and staff training.

Probably okay if you just want a tea and a scone, but probably won't return.

Stopped there on a trip down the canal, time was very limited and they were busy. Only had time for a quick drink and scone. Lovely setting with seating both inside and out. Would gp again.

I can't rate Mad Hatter's highly enough. Despite us having a large order, the food and drinks arrived in a timely fashion and everything was hot and tasty. It's great value for money and service is excellent. The homemade cakes will blow you away. Sitting outside by the canal in the morning sunshine was wonderful.

We stopped off here as a stop on a boat trip from Mercia Marina. We ordered a hot chocolate and a bottle of coke with some cake. The hot chocolate was massive and tasted amazing. The cakes were huge, delicious and couldn’t even finish them, so brought them back with us!! The staff were really friendly and delivered the food quickly. Definitely recommend this place if nearby

What a great little tearoom in a brilliant setting. Working locally I decided to give this place a try for a takeaway breakfast. What a treat this was! Delicious, highly recommended!!
