The Black Rat Cakery®

Kat has baked two cakes for us now and they've both been amazing. The first was a Christmas cake that I 'commissioned' for our family last year. To say that my dad has high standards when it comes to fruit cake would be an understatement and Kat didn't disappoint. It was beautifully decorated and heavy with fruit, very much enjoyed by all.
The second cake was for my birthday and despite Kats efforts to get some direction from me, my only request was 'chocolate'! She certainly took the hint and produced the most amazing looking cake decorated with chocolates and covered in thick chocolate ganache - the middle didn't disappoint either!
I would certainly recommend The Black Rat Cakery to anyone who is looking for not just a fantastic looking but also a rather scrummy cake.
2020 might have been a funny old year full of surprises but if Kat makes our Christmas cake again at least I know I'll be seeing it out with a decent bit of cake! 🤣

Kat created a bespoke Harry Potter birthday cake for my daughters 18th. Due to my daughters allergies (which she has now out grown) it was her first taste of cake and it did not disappoint. There were other allergies for Kat to deal with and this she did with no complaint or issue. The end result was a beautiful, individual and fantastic tasting cake and a very happy 18 year old.

Kat made my daughters christening cake in December last year. The cake was beautifully presented and decorated, also tasted amazing! Was really good value for the time and effort Kat put in. I would definitely use the cakery for future special occasions.

We decided on The Black Rat Cakery’ for my daughters 2nd Birthday cake. Kat pulled out all the stops and produced a fantastic Winnie The Pooh cake for us that looked and tasted fantastic! I’ve already got my Christmas cake on order and am counting down the days!

Kat worked very patiently with us from the start to make sure we got the wedding cake we wanted.

My husband and I met through kayaking and enjoy a number of shared outdoor activities and we wanted this to be reflected somehow in our wedding cake. In the end we settled for a three tier silhouette cake with each layer reflecting how our interests/activities developed through our relationship, which looked stunning!

I highly recommend the red velvet with white chocolate and raspberry buttercream if you have a sweet tooth like we do! Everyone absolutely loved the cake, and I can confirm it tasted as good as it looked! We honestly can't recommend the black rat cakery enough!
