Liked: The facilities were really good. A nice play park and football pitch for my son, clean and well lit toilet and laundry facilities, a well stocked and friendly serviced shop and reception and even a little pizza shop on an evening.
Great location, really handy for a number of fantastic walks and Wainwrights and also the picturesque Wast Water.
We stayed in a pod which was surprisingly spacious with a lovely view to wake up to.

Disliked: Nothing about the site at all.

Liked: Lovely staff, really helpful. Beautiful surroundings, easy to walk/drive to wast water. Toilets and showers clean for rural camping. Very luxurious having hot water! Reasonably priced too. Farm shop helpful for all the bits and bobs we forgot/needed. WiFi at reception.

Disliked: Bit far to go to the loos but knew this before coming from other reviews. Completely fine for us, may need to consider for children visiting.

Liked: How rural it felt, nestled in amongst the natural environment. It was so quiet at night time. Best nights sleep while camping!
Excellent location

Disliked: The smell was a bit too much however we understood why and thought the shower facilities were a bit small regarding the size of the camp site.

Liked: Flat pitches which were nicely spaced despite it being full. Washrooms were clean and didn't require queuing. On site pizzas were really lovely. No wi-fi (except shop) or phone signal was an added bonus. Shop is well stocked and well priced. Very close to various mountain walks and Wast water is 5 mins away. Tried to extend our stay it was that good.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike really, you'd just be picking fault for the sake of it.

Liked: Pitch sizes were good - We had a very large tent (Berghaus 6XL air tent) plus a gazebo, trailer and car.
The pitches were well spaced apart.

The shop has everything you could possibly need including deodrant, toothpaste, food, frozen meats, BBQ packs, BBQ's and coal etc. Really handy as there werent any other shops around Ice creams were welcomed in the heat! They also did a firepit hire for £5 a night and a bag of logs and kindling for £5 too which was good.

Beautiful scenery.

Playground was great for big and small kids alike. Plenty for them to do and there were football nets in a seperate area.
Other campers were quiet from about 10/11pm which was good.

The toilets and showers were good. Plenty for people, never had to queue whilst we were there and we mentioned at reception when checking in that we had a toddler. We were able to pay a £5.00 deposits for a key to the "disabled/family" bathroom which was great!

The actual site is well laid out and spacious and is only about 10 mins drive to Wastwater we went swimming each day.
Also not far from Scaffell Pike, only about 25 min drive.

There is no signal on site, which didn't bother us at all. There is WiFi at reception but it doesn't reach camp.
If you need to, I recommend downloading things from netflix to tablets or phones before you go and also walking maps etc.

Disliked: Nothing! We loved it all.

Liked: Very well managed site, all facilities available, clean toilets and showers, laundry available on site. Decent views and overall very peaceful and quiet. The site is particular about noise in the area so no cars are allowed after 10:30pm. There is no mobile coverage, which can be a good thing or a bad thing however you look at it. There is wifi available 24 hours at the reception. Had a great stay, very friendly and helpful staff. The site is potentially walking distance from Wast Water lake and close to the National Trust site for parking. I had arrived to go up Scafell Pike and the site made perfect sense. There is also the National Trust campsite, but I would recommend this site for better coverage of the area. Paid £25.00 for a non-electric pitch up tent, which is good value for the site. Dedicated child play area and football field to keep children occupied. Site allows for barbecues.

Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: This is a lovely quiet site in a more remote part of The Lake District.
Very peaceful and well run, and all of the staff that I met were very helpful and cheerful.
If you like dark nights then this is for you.
Easy access to Wast Water and other excellent walks direct from the camp.
The Screes pub just outside of the camp offers great meals excellent service and a variety of house beers brewed onsite.
The camp had a good mixture of tents and motorhomes I saw no caravans during my stay I am not sure if they are allowed on site.
The last few miles are on narrow lanes, but I was in a 7m motorhome and had no issues. Other larger vans were also onsite.
Toilet facilities were clean and tidy.
Level pitches hardstanding and grass.
All in all a great site that I would recommend to anyone.

Disliked: No Wi-Fi but then again I am on holiday so good to escape.....

Liked: Perfect site for exploring Wastwater lake, Scafell Pike. Plenty of walks on doorstep. It's a big site mixed of motorhomes, campervans and tents. Was quite loud on our first night but we like this but from 10.30 went very quiet so not a problem for the night time. Toilets and showers are clean and showers had the extra space to hang clothes and keep them dry.
It has a freezer to refreeze your cool blocks and pot washing facilities. Woodland walk from the site which has views over the mountains. Our pitch had a stunning view of one of the mountains.
Farm shop on site which sells essentials and you can stop and have a brew whilst using WiFi. Staff very friendly.
Fire pits are allowed as long as off the grass, we ordered wood and got a big bag for £5 which they delivered to our pitch for us.
2 pubs just outside the site and another farm shop and cafe just a walk away (was shut whilst we were there but looked lovely).

Disliked: The elsan point had a strong smell to it which wasn't very pleasant walking back to pitch. Plenty of bins but some were overflowing and a bit unsightly near our pitch.
Although not the sites fault, the roads are very tight getting to the site and in big vehicles can be tricky and a bit scary at times.
Also no signal at the site whatsoever, including radio/TV.
