Lovely little camp ground and very handy for us cycling from Harwich to London.

The camp ground itself has no signs saying Bumpsteads Cottage but does have signs mentioning campervans and “members only” which it appeared wasn’t the case. We looked around and managed to find another camper who could give us the number of the owner (I’ve suggested google maps add the number) and she allowed us to stay for the night, texting us the codes for the bathrooms and explaining where to put our payment (£12 for two people and a tent for the night). You’ll need cash and exact change!

The site for camping is nice and grassy and quite quiet other than the road you arrive by.

Bathrooms are quite nice (two showers and two toilets), but very small. Showers are £1 per 5 minutes. The sensor for the light isn’t very sensitive so I found the light would keep turning off while I was standing in front of the mirror.

This is lovely little campsite. My son & I stayed here last night for 1 night . Its so clean and very well maintained. The toilets are absolutely spotless and the young lady who cleans them does a fantastic job. There is a lovely little stream that trickles through the site . At night there are some amazing noises such as a little owl and muntjacs. Hylands is in walking distance and so are the stunning woods off Nathan's Lane. Thank you so much my son loved it.

We were very happy with this site. Clean toilet and washing area.
Some other campers there allowed their dogs to run around off lead. This is very unusual for campsites to allow this. The dogs were lovely, as were the owners, but our dog is sadly wary of other dogs. These dogs ran up to her when she was on her lead. This caused her to be very anxious. We let her off lead but told the other dog owners that she would be growly towards their dogs, which she was. It was all fine, and we had a great stay there, with lovely people on site, and we will stay again. Just wish there was a stricter rule there with dogs having to be on lead.
Otherwise, would have been 5 stars.....
Thanks

Great little site. Nice owners. No walking trails so to get anywhere you will need to drive. Lovely views across sheep grazing fields with nice sunrise and sunset. Toilet and shower block. Great place is you just wanted to switch off.

My avid caravaning in-laws from up North were recommended this CL club site. Just came for a couple of nights so our children could have an adventure visiting. Both grandparents and children loved it. The site is clean, has a number of electric points, sheep (strangely quiet) in a nearby field, and a limited number of pitches. Friendly feel.

Just a few hundred metres from Writtle where there is a Co-op, fish & chips take away, pharmacy, beautiful green with pond & wildfowl.

Just a few miles from the Liverpool Street Station line into London or Norwich and Chelmsford City centre cathedral, a large number of shops, cinemas 🎥, a greasy spoon café plus innumerable "posh" breakfast options.

Well first impressions count and here I can say the owners are lovely people, full of principles and traditional values. I didn't stay as my plans changed but let me just say, the booking process - codes and access were all provided without a payment in my mind. I was provided with good information and totally taken back when I enquired about payment and was told to use the honesty box on site! These principles alone told me I was in good hands and the reviews speak for themselves. So if you're after a lovely campsite run by nice owners and appreciate these values then look no further. I'm heading to the Suffolk coastline in August travelling from Gloucester and it is my absolute intention to stay at this site. Fantastic people

I stayed at this wonderful site again recently. It was perfect despite me forgetting to pack my awning!
