Location is good enough if you want to be 20-30min drive away for most of the devon beaches but if you prefer to be nearer, there are few better locations even from Camping Caravanning club. Facilities are quite basic with small number of shower and quite dated. Play area is also very limited. The best pitches are the one with fix tents and near the row of trees, avoid the pitch on the east end which effectively puts you beside BP gas station and are very noisy in the evening. I think those section will be better off turned into maybe a bigger play area and maybe a dog walking area rather than a pitch. Additional hedge on this side would also be better so reduce the noise. The staff is very helpful though and accomodating specially with group pitches.

We rocked up at California Cross, pre-booked for three nights, as novices in our campervan. We soon discovered that we were short of a couple of essentials. The duty staff were so helpful. Loaned us a long hook-up lead, supplied some rock pegs and loaned a large hammer. Saved the day and we really enjoyed our stay at this well managed and pleasant site.

Very well kept site with friendly staff. Karen is very helpful. A nice quiet site, facilities are very clean. There is a Spar shop and pub just around the corner, so very convenient.

Lovey campsite. A bit in the middle of now where so need to drive. Friendly staff. Very clean shower/toiletblocks. We have 3 dogs and found there was nowhere really to walk the dogs, but outside on the road. The staff were happy for you to walk round the site and clean as you go. We were not really happy doing this as the site was getting fuller and let's face it you would not like someone's dog doing its business by your tent or van. We won't be going again personally, but would recommend it if you didn't have dogs or a motorhome. Clean and well kept site.

The campsite is in a great location only 15minutes from the beach.
The site itself is clean and tidy, the staff very polite and helpful and wiling to help you if they can.
The shower/toilet block is cleaned regularly as is the dish washing area.
I didn't use the laundry room.
The play area has 2 swings and a slide ( my grandson loved it)
Although dogs are allowed onsite you don't here them.
The grass is nice and short for easy camping 🏕, the hard ground for caravans spacious.
The whole site is very clean.
The only fault I could find was the hand dryers not reachable for young children nor were the basins.
This is the second time we've been stayed here, so will definitely go back again.

Small peaceful site. Good wifi and radio reception. Helpful staff.Facilities, though very dated ,are very clean and of a perfectly acceptable standard. But we will not return. The access road from the reconmended A38 exit is dreadful. We have a very small caravan but had several very narrow squeaks. And if you have a large caravan and you meet anything other than a car you will have problems...unless by chance there is a bit of a passing place handy. If you are also a member of the Caravan and Motorhome Club choosing their nearby site is not an easy alternative option. Getting there involves even more time on this awful road. So...my advice is look elsewhere. You cannot return to the A38 at the point you left it if en route to the Docks. After enduring the aforementioned awful road you have go via the A3121. An ok route but slower and in wet conditions you arrive at the Docks with a caravan covered in mud and leaves. All in all the location of the site has little to commend it.

Excellent site with small children's play area. Pet friendly but no dog walk. Very helpful staff. Very clean facilities. Cheaper rates for members. Small camping essentials shop on site. Within 120 paces of village pub with good pub food and rear garden opposite long hours petrol station and well stocked Spar shop.
