Matilda's Field Safari Tent Glamping

We had a great time during our stay at Matilda's Field. The location is great, amazing views and plenty of walking routes. Our children spent lots of time outdoors, making a den in the woods and paddling on the lake. The tents were comfortable and well equipped and any additional needs that we had were met by our hosts. We'd definitely recommend Matilda's Field to others and would certainly consider staying again.

Liked: A beautiful secluded location in the embrace of Dyfnant Forest with spectacular views of the Welsh countryside to the front. the Safari tent we stayed was very clean and well maintained, it was well equipped with lovely touches including a rum and raisins banjo made by the owners father. Although there is no mains electricity (it is a tent in a field after all) they do have solar powered lighting and plenty of lamps for the dark evenings. Heating is provided via a gas fire which kept the tent lovely and warm on cold nights. Water is via a bore hole on the property, it is very fresh and safe to drink and there is hot water on demand for showering or washing up - use the water mindfully though as the the owners rely on the supply too.
There is a well equipped kitchen with a dual gas hob for cooking complete with a whistling kettle! a very comfortable leather sofa with plenty of throws and cushions and a large farmhouse dinner table with chairs. there is a large cool box provided and the owners will refresh the ice packs everyday. though i would recommend taking your own cool box also. From the tent you can walk on access roads through much of the forest and there a several circular routes that will bring you back to the tent. A short drive away is lake Vyrnwy which is spectacular. The owners are very welcoming and always on call. relaxing and unwinding here was effortless.

Liked: We had the best time at Matildas field. The owner Mike was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The tent had everything you could need, comfy beds, all utensils, hot water bottles, binoculars for the gorgeous view and incredible wdlife all around. My daughter loved the cabin bed which she claimed as her own and spent a lot of the time whilst we were in the tent. A safe was a really nice touch to put your valuable in whilst out and about. The stars on a clear night was incredible you could see the milkyway! The tent, bathroom and veranda were exceptionally clean and maintained everywhere looked new. Will definitely come back to explore snowdonia again!

We had a lovely stay here 4 adults 2 kids over a weekend. The setting is stunning and quiet, the drive an adventure, Mike was so accommodating and thoughtful, nothing was too much trouble. The tents are so comfy, clean, and they have honestly thought of everything! So many brilliant touches and details it definitely was glamping at its best. Everyone could really relax and the kids entertained themselves. The local pig farm had piglets which was a great little addition to visit. The views from tent and surrounding areas were incredible. Looking forward to visiting again!

Amazing site we are so glad to have found! Beautiful tranquil location with stunning views. The safari tent was immaculate and homely, Mike and Donna where lovely hosts. Couldn’t recommend enough and look forward to returning!

A magical place, has to been seen to be truly appreciated. Comfortable accommodation, beautifully furnished, very welcoming and friendly hosts. And above it all a Light pollution free sky 🌟

Our family stayed here in the 6 person safari tent / cabin. What a great place! Overall it was amazing, beautiful surroundings but it’s the little things / detail which make it ‘amazing’ and Mike (the owner) goes the extra mile and some to make your stay special. Accommodation is v clean and very well presented. Towels, hot water, sheets etc but it is the detail i.e. a box of stuff you may have forgotten with honesty payment - toothpaste, teas, milk, crisps, pasta/sauce…. even chocolate. Kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need, excellent hob and great bbq.
Lighting is via gas lamp plus several paraffin lamps. There is even 12v power for the essential 21st century tech (but out that away and enjoy the quiet and view)!
Dogs are very welcome and great for long walks.
This is a great find - we will be returning again - thank you Mike for a lovely break and for looking after us! See you again👍
