Liked: This is a fantastic camp site. We arrived a bit earlier than expected on the Friday and were greeted by friendly staff. When the owner arrived, he showed us some of the woodland sites available and we chose a beautiful spot about 60-70 feet from the main buildings, set back in the woods. The pitch was stunning, sheltered by 2 large oak trees, we were left alone for the whole time we stayed and you couldn’t really hear anything except the birds and some nearby horses.
There are 20 of these woodland pitches that wind their way through the woodland towards the Estuary and each one gets more and more remote as you go also there’s a field for more “sociable” camping, if that’s what you want.
Camp fires are allowed, although you either have to bring your own fire pit and fire mat, or you can hire one on a daily basis and wood is bought from the campsite owner.
There are some really stunning walks in the area, including an easy walk starting behind the cottages on the site and also an amazing woodland walk on the other side of the river (easily accessed from the camp site).
We spent 3 nights at the site and can’t recommend it enough. Even the chickens were friendly (although they really only show interest if you have food and you do need eyes in the back of your head while cooking as they can get into everything!!).
If you are new to this camp site and read the other reviews, some of them do say that the shower block is work in progress, we can report that the work is pretty Much complete and there are 3 really good showers in the block, 2 sinks and drainers for washing pots and pans (take your own bowl though as the sinks dont have plugs) and 4 clean and well kept toilet cubicles (behind a second door in the block).
I can highly recommend this camp site, we’ve had a brilliant and relaxing break and can’t wait to go back (already trying to find a free weekend to try out more of the woodland sites!).

Disliked: Nothing….It was all brilliant!!

My absolute favourite camp site ever! Have stayed a couple of times now for wild camping in the woods. Owners are doing the best job ever upgrading facilities and are also the nicest people you might care to meet. I didn't expect hot showers this last time as was a new site when we first went but now they have them available as well as multiple toilets and dish wash facilities (all clean and well maintained). There is even the option to get home made food delivered to your tent for evening meal should you wish (and they catered for my other half who is gluten free no issue what so ever) The theme is wild camping, back to nature and absolutely beautiful surroundings. The pitches are well spaced and private (via natural means, trees shrubs bushes)that you feel as though your alone in the woods. Fire pits are great, you can purchase wood if you need it or kindling and I think there are supplies of other things in the shop but didn't buy anything else. I love this place. It really is in the most beautiful spot. The estuary is only a short distance away and a nice little wander without being strenuous, you can hire bikes to get around faster should you wish and if you take the path to the right have a walk or ride up to the George the 3rd which is a nice pub with a lovely restraunt. I want to stay for a week next time! Wish I was still there, blessed to have been able to visit and think it will now be an annual thing.

Had a brilliant week pitched in the forest. Nice distance between pitches, lovely and cool in the heatwave when we visited. Thanks to Adrian and Nat for great site, special shout out to Sean who was very helpful with good surgestion for walks and places to visit. The site was amazing, Toilets were always clean.
Great access to the estuary from bottom of the site which lead onto the Mac trail. Our dog had a great time. Fire wood could be purchased on site and you could hire fire pits if you didn't have one. Small shop with water and cold drinks. Great wilderness get away. Loved that there is not a lot of phone signal. Will definitely will be going to stay again.
Excellent site and perfect getaway.

Liked: I stayed on the 'Mountain View' pitch which was really nice and had a fantastic view of the mountain in the distance. Felt nice and secluded even though I had neighbors the first night. There were many pitches to choose from as it was quiet when I went and some were very well hidden, you really have to have a good look round to find them all! Showers, toilets and cleaning facilities were very clean. Spring water drinking tap near the farm house was also nice and not too far from the pitch. The location of the campsite itself is absolutely spectacular, with the beach, mountains and various walks very close by. The fact you can also access the estuary from the campsite was also very nice and a great view to watch the sunset. Will definitely be back to stay again!

Disliked: No complaints, great campsite.

Liked: What an amazing experience from start to finish! Adrian and Sean we're so welcoming and helpful throughout our stay! Adrian took the time upon arrival to show us various pitches until we found one we loved, "cader view" and what an amazing view it is!! Thanks to Sean's suggestions we made the most out of our 3 day stay and visited Barmouth on bikes (rented from the campsite) riding all along the estuary! We visited some beautiful lakes, the name of which I cannot remember, but will definitely not forget the ride up there :) and climbed some beautiful hills! The whole campsite is literally surrounded by nature, its everywhere you look! There are beautiful horses on site, free range chickens which I was lucky enough to get to stroke! The constant sound of the stream running by camp is so calming!
We had all sorts of birds coming right up to us at our plot and pretty much eating from our hands! The whole place now has a special spot in my heart!
The facilities are fantastic, luckily it was quiet while we stayed, I can imagine there would be queues for the showers etc at peak time. Showers are lovely and hot and toilets were always clean.
Words really can't describe how beautiful this place is!
Thank you so much to Adrian and his team for such a wonderful experience, we will be back for sure and for much longer next time as there is just so much to see and do!

Liked: Area of outstanding beauty.
Esstuary was only a 10 minute walk away.
Barmouth was a further 5 miles along a footpath.
Loads of woodland trails and picnic areas.
Fantastic place to ride your bike.
Some nice mountains and lakes locally.

Disliked: Road noise.
Hardly any flat pitches on the field.
No waste disposal facilities.
Lack of signage.
Poorly constructed and thought out toilet and shower area.
Was made to feel responsible as had pitched in wrong field (options were £10 more for a 2 night stay or move pitch) I moved pitch but refused to pay extra for first night.
Reasonably expensive considering amenities

Liked: The location is truly breathtaking, surrounded by mountains with loads of lovely walks nearby and the estuary is only a few minutes down the path. The pitches were lovely and spacious and offered a more private, wild camping experience. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, providing trip ideas and knowledge of the local area. The facilities are quite basic tho they cover all the essentials and were always clean. Would definitely stay again and recommend to our friends!

Disliked: Bit of an uphill walk to the toilets/reception area, tho this didn’t impact us much as again the scenery on the way up made up for it.

Liked: Beautiful site, lovely woodland pitches, super helpful staff, clean facilities. Lovely walk straight down to the estuary. Kids loved the chickens and horses! We loved the home-cooked Thai food that was available for order from the staff.

Disliked: Not really a dislike: the Council won't service bins so you have to take your rubbish away. It made us very aware and a bit proud of how little landfill we generated! Mostly recycling which we were able to dispose of locally.
