I will list the entire process I went through:
Purchased the car from site, drive two minutes down the road and the engine light comes on, at this point I take the car back for them to fix the problem. (Issue with the exhaust auto emissions sensor)
Go to collect on the Tuesday morning, the car is all sorted and is ready to go. Shortly after putting a full tank of fuel in the vehicle, it starts miss firing and then comes to a stop, this time it’s a different problem, something to do with the engine head gasket. As the repair man comes to help get the car going again, his exact words were "it's no problem we'll just glue it back together. At this point I asked for a full refund and my money back for the fuel I had put in it, to which they agreed.
As I got back to sight, the cabin where there is usually one or two people, there was 10 men all surrounding me, as you can imagine this is just an intimidation tactic and it works very well. They then processed to tell me they weren’t going to refund me the money for my fuel as it was no good to them and that it was my fault for putting a full tank in.
I ended up getting a refund for the car, but walked away with more problems than I started with i.e. insurance cancellation fees, struggling to get a tax refund and no refund for the fuel
If I can give any advice to anyone who see’s a vehicle from this place, stay the hell away
They handed back my deposit but it’s absolutely ridiculous that you would allow me to drive hours to get there just for the car to not work, at least check it works before saying it’s 100% ready for me to collect. You advertised it like everything in the car was fine and gave me the impression that it would be a great first car for a great price. Completely put off from this place and would recommend you don’t waste your time either.
When I returned the next week to collect the vehicle, something I had never expected happened. The online and mobile banking at Santander Bank went down. After 2 hrs waiting the bank was still offline leaving with me no means to pay.
You will love to hear what happened next. The manager at Bradley offered a contract with delayed payment. We jumped in the car and drove off, paid the next day once the bank came live.
His extraordinary gesture saved me another 2x200 miles trip. Turns out when technology fails you are at the mercy of other human beings. I don't wish anybody what happened to me but if it does, you can count on the guys at Bradley Car Sales.
Forgot to add -- while waiting, we were offered lunch and it was delicious!
