Recently purchased a car from here. I can’t praise them enough! From the moment I stepped foot in the door, till I left driving the car, the service was fantastic. I’ve had the car nearly a month and am very happy. I’d definitely recommend and use them again.

This is my first negative review about a service provider. The service I received was a catalogue of miscommunication and mismanagement. Took seven months to repair a VW polo from Dec 17 to July 18 not because it was difficult but because "we hadn't got round to it" (receptionist’s words). They only charged for parts not labour, but in the meantime car owner had to get a loan to buy a new car because he is a young man who needs his car to earn a living. Ian the owner had always "just popped out" whenever we called to speak to him about the car. To add insult to injury, the work that was done was needed as a result of the car having been repaired by this garage the previous week and then breaking down again, and the car owner had to pay to get the car towed back to Chapel Garage for a second attempt at repair. I wrote a full email outlining our complaints but got no reply. Our advice would be to only use this garage if the service and time to do the job really don't matter that much to you.

My daughter moved into the area from south Manchester, and not being from the area myself I was quite worried that being a young girl she’ll get ripped off.

I emailed them asking for a cost for a new clutch

The work was done on her car as promised on time and as per quote.

When I saw her at weekend I had a quick test drive, the new clutch was spot on.

I’d recommend the garage in future.

What can I say, I will bullet point it, it will be easier for both me and for those who have to read it:
1. Chapel Garage had our work vehicle for 13 weeks.
2. They did not fix the problem
3. They kept on making numerous excuses as to why they could not speak to us regarding the repair work
4. Claimed the 5 hours that they had spent could not be seen as they took the part out of the vehicle.
5. Refused to send an invoice as I said that I queried the labour considering it was not fixed, no evidence of 5 hours work and they have had the vehicle for 13 weeks. (costing us in insurance, tax, an additional £180.00 for the vehicle to be moved to another garage and the cost of a hire vehicle).
6. Because they were refusing to send the invoice and kept on hanging up, they were holding our vehicle in lieu but we couldn't pay.
7. We had to threaten to report the vehicle as stolen and contact the police before they would send an invoice.
8. They still refuse to refund any of the payment despite there being no evidence of work being carried out, holding our vehicle for 13 weeks and the additional costs.

Perhaps now I will get a response.

Could not have made up this story... I was on my way home with a van full of live Koi fish who needed to get back in a pond when I started having issues with my van. After trying at a previous garage who were too busy to help I found my way to Chapel Garage.
Distraught and clueless as to what the problem was. The owner greeted me with a big smile and although obviously very busy reassured me he would try to help.
He had a quick test drive before, pulling other cars off his ramp for a quick check before identifying the problem and patched up within minutes with advice as how to resolve fully.
I could not be more grateful, the customer service and friendliness of both manager and staff were far beyond my expectations.
Thank you again so much for your help. I will be sending you and your team a crate of beers for saving me.
