Thrifty Car and Van Rental Lincoln

We rent cars regularly from other companies and have never had any issues, until we tried to rent from Thrifty in Lincoln. The woman that we spoke with seemed determined NOT to rent us a car, and kept repeating how strict they were with ID, which seemed odd in the first place. We agreed to an Experian check, which we’ve done plenty of times before, but she input the wrong address (which we had told her multiple times was wrong), said “sorry it’s unauthorised, there’s a problem with the address, we can’t give you the car, bye” and hung up the phone. Bearing in mind, we had booked the car nearly two weeks before, and this happened the day before we were supposed to pick up. Two days before Christmas. Luckily we called the day before pick up to double check the booking, otherwise we would have been left with no time to organise anything else. We eventually went to Budget cars and the guy there was super helpful and we were in and out within 10 minutes.

Team Member in the company seems to be working to NOT RENT A CAR. The lady had a problem with absolutely everything; asked for a proof of address but everything that we provided (phone bill, bank account statement, payslip from work) wasn’t good enough, even if the date on the document was correct. In the end, when we decided to go somewhere else (after 3 hours of trying), she said it will be the same everywhere. However, it took us just 10 minutes, a driving licence and debit card in the second company. Never again.

Rented from Thrifty from all over the country on many occasions, but mostly from the Lincoln branch. The service has always been tremendous, the cars have always been trust worthy and in great order, and last but not least the customer service from everyone there has never been short of amazing.

Thrifty and it's staff have all looked after me amazingly each and every time.

I would give less stars if I could. I booked a van for collection the next day. When I arrived the computer systems they used were not working meaning I could not rent a van. The Staff really didn't care. The attitude they gave was of purely discusting. At no point did they try to remedy the situation. After waiting an hour for the computers to come back online someone came out of the office and told me " you might as well go else were" lucky Lincs van hire is just down the road and were friendly and very helpful.
For such a big name company I'd advice the bosses to take a look at the Lincoln branch staff and either invest in customer service training or find staff that want to work there.

Booked a transit van a week in advance online, and received a courtesy call the day before pickup making sure we were still going ahead etc. Morning of the pick up we find that the transit van we booked had been sold!! They gave us a bigger van (which we didnt want) with half of the space lost due to seating, no height stickers... which is rather useful when visiting the refuse centre. All we got told us we were lucky to get a van, even though we had booked it well in advance. Avoid this company at all costs to save disappointment!

Was booked in for 4 new tyres that we ordered was told we would have to wait not very happy at being told about 1hour wait that turns out to be 31/2 hours in total. Being disabled ♿ there was no where we could go as it was husbands car & everything was to far for me to walk

Girl on counter seemed really nice and friendly and then the guy comes out. What a contrast. Arrogant jobsworth with zero people skills. Had a bad feeling, he was acting like he was doing me a favour renting me a car. Cancelled the order and walked away.

Thrifty driver delivered a car for a neighbour - not seeing anywhere convenient to park he left it on my driveway - completely blocking my access to my own car which was garaged - despite being advised not to by another neighbour. The car then remained there for two whole days - because the intended recipient was away. Thrifty branch was closed as it was a weekend and have no out of hours number that you can call for such issues - and so I was powerless to do anything about it. Furious doesn’t even come close.
