I called Enterprise before any other company, because I'd used them before. I was told by the call centre advisor that she would need to give the branch an hours notice so I could pick up the car at 2:30pm at the earliest. I agreed to this and booked everything over the phone.
I then booked myself a taxi to get to the Enterprise branch.I had a phone call from the branch at 2pm to 'confirm' my booking. What I was told was that he didn't have ANY cars available on site and it was pretty 'unrealistic' of me to think I could pick up a car with just over an hours notice. He kept telling me he needed to go through the I.D checks, and I explained that if he had ZERO cars, what was the point in going through the checks because I wasn't going to rent a car that doesn't exist, as I needed the car urgently.
He kept trying to get me to do the checks, and just didn't seem to understand my predicament. He kept saying how the person in the call centre shouldn't have booked it. He didn't apologise once and was extremely defensive, rude and condescending. He tried to make me feel as though it was my fault. Once I finally said I would go with another company and to stop trying to make me do the ID checks, he simply said "Ok, Bye" and hung up the phone.
I called the call centre back whilst in my taxi to pick up my Mum which cost a total of £26. I was told that he hadn't even cancelled the booking and that he shouldn't of been advertising cars for a pick up if he didn't have any on site.
I've used Enterprise before at Hadfield Road and wasn't overly-enthused. It almost just seemed like a bunch of careless lads ran the place. Really unprofessional. I'll never use them again and as it happens I went with Europcar who delivered the car to my door, were easy to use and were £40 cheaper.
We booked a car 3 weeks prior, turned up and it nothing was available. This was extremely frustrating as we were on the way to the airport to catch a flight.
We used a competitor and they were great. The moral.of this is If you want to avoid any extra stress avoid enterprise.
