Pleiades

I made a pilgrimage from London to get some work done on my C5 by Pleiades after reading about them in a Citroen forum. It was worth every penny, worth the time and worth the travel. Apart from being interesting people to talk to and very professional, Pleiades saved me money in two ways. Firstly, they were happy to refurbish and refit various parts rather than spending my money on expensive new assemblies. Most garages don't bother as it requires a lot more skill, initiative, specialised tooling and ingenuity than just replacing the whole assembly to produce a result comparable with getting all new parts. The second way Pleiades saved me money is they clearly priced my job based on how long it usually takes them to do it in real life, rather than how long some dealership book says it should take. Since these guys are evidently very skilled and experienced they just get a lot more done inside the hours they bill you for. In my experience, garages do not have to do a good job in order to stay in business. When they do an excellent job it is because the people running them have both the skills and the personal inclination to do things that way. I do my best to seek out people like this and bring them my business; if I have to travel to do so it is still worth it.

Series 1 1990 Citroen XM Si Auto. Had my trailing arm suspension bearings and bushes renewed on both sides plus all the spheres overhauled. And while he had his kit out, I asked him to tweak my mid exhaust pipe which I'd left catching on a cross member.
I dropped the car off at 0800 and the car was ready for me at 0800 the next day.
How about that for service?!
I've used Martin before for my estate's suspension spheres and he did those while I waited which we'd arranged beforehand and I left Pleiades that day with a totally transformed motor, brilliant.
Simon did the work this time, (Martin did the grunting in the background). A bigger job with 30 years of wear and oxidation welding steel to ally bolt threads, worn bearing surfaces and etc. Then all the spheres and exhaust.
The messy bit of parting with dosh turned out to be a good hundred quid less than I expected. I owe them both a beer or two for that, at the least.
Professional, friendly and very helpful, a cracking service.
