A wonderful place in the heart of Sussex, still very much unspoilt and peaceful with some great walks on public footpaths along several different routes. There is a beautiful lake, a castle, a Windmill and some famous historical figures associated with this area, including the Knights Templar !
The owners have a policy of letting all the animals here roam freely and find their own food and water in the massive grounds just as nature intended. Spotting heards of Deer and wild pigs in the forests with their young is an amazing sight. There is also a great country pub close to the routes with a nice garden that serves good food.
There is a nice new free public car park just built with free maps and walking guides available which is a very nice touch.
At present you can walk around the Estate on the many rugged footpaths and rarely see anyone else, I really hope that the new visitors carpark is not the start of some Tarmac footpaths and commercialisation which would really spoil the beauty of this area.

Lovely place to visit. Polite staff, good parking, amazing grounds and wildlife.
We did half the purple route. As a person with impaired mobility who cannot sit on the floor, I was disheartened that there was not a single bench along the route. We will return but only when I'm up to completing the other half without resting! No toilet facilities.

A lovely walk and the estate is beautiful. I’d recommend wellies in the winter as it’s too wet for boots and some paths were flooded and unwalkable so had to turn back. Well signposted mostly and even saw a couple of deer and some bunnies. Will be coming back in the drier months.

You can't go into the castle, only walks outside.
There are 3 walks all colour coded starting from a shorter walk then a medium then a long walk., you decide.
All left wild and open. Some areas you can't walk on as the wildlife roam free. On occasions you can see the animals and birds whilst walking your route.
There is also a safari section.
Go it's great 👍

Went to Knepp nature reserve, dogs allowed on lead.Absolutely beautiful, very quiet and tranquil. Four different walks you can take, very well sign posted and maps to direct you. We saw lots of deer, did a 8 mile loop and stopped at pub half way,and sat in garden area, saw a windmill on route, great place to take children. Parking free ,we gave a £5 donation as nature reserve also free, coffee and drink station available but no toilets, definitely worth a visit.

A wonderful project and fantastic place to visit at any time of the year - though wear boots in winter! Great either for a walk, using one of their well signed routes, or a safari or course; so much to learn and see, but so peaceful too. A fascinating and Inspirational place to read up about as well. :-)

Had 3 visits now. Id compare to The new forest quite happily, there are suggested trails in red blue or white, taking from 1.5- 4 hours. quite rough walking from hoof marks in ground. a small refreshments van.
ENTER by going to Dial Post and Swallows lane car park. the map takes you to the ruin and a no entry gate.
