Castle closed but lovely grounds for walking in and walled gardens for exploring the plants within. Access no problem and tea shop great for a coffee on the way in and lunch on the way out. Lots of places to sit as well for those with tired legs. Lots of intriguing history; lots of bucolic views. Not surprised a wedding wedding was going on as we visited.

Lovely day out, spent approximately 4 hours here. The grounds are beautiful, it was a sunny day so we enjoyed the walk around Ripley Lake. We purchased the Castle Tour, which was filled with interesting information about the Ingilby family's history!

Bob, our guide, made it very interesting however I wasn't impressed by how he spoke to one lady who asked some additional questions a few times (as I could tell she knew things about history and places, and that she loved to learn more). He ignored some od the questions or downtalked her, so it made me feel sad for her as she asked some really good questions!

The parking is pay and display, maximum 40-50 spaces so if you don't end up finding any spots you'll need to go to the larger car park in the village and then walk for less than 5 minutes.

The ticket to the castle grounds and gardens costs £5, and the castle tour is also another £5. The tour lasts approximately 1 hour. As the family still lives there, it's their home and hence no photography allowed inside.

Overall a good day out but I don't think I would return, as I have seen more impressive castles throughout the UK. But its history was interesting, nevertheless.

Great wander round the castle grounds, saw the lake, the cows, had a picnic and then to the Boars Head for a pint or two. Sandwich shop on-site was a bit lacking in choice and smiles to be honest.

Enjoyed a walk round the deer park before the guided tour of the castle. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour and then explored more of the grounds and gardens.

We often go too the Ivy for Breakfast in Harrogate, and try to find somewhere nearby to visit. We love looking round gardens and castles , and although this isn't a medieval type castle, we thought it was worth a visit.
Well it most certainly is. Waze took us there no problem, but there was a little bit of confusion as to where to park. the car park is quite small, but we got parked. It is a pay and display where you have to put your reg number in, but it wasn't expensive. £1.00 gets an hour with the shop and cafe giving you the £1.00 back with a purchase.
We headed for the Castle gardens, the actual Castle was shut anyway. We had a lovely walk through some kitchen gardens and took a walk through a pathed wooded area then along the small lake, heading back to the cafe.
We missed out a fair bit of the gardens, we only paid for 2 hours and hadn't thought we would stay longer.
We had a lovely Coffee and cake, the Cafe was well organized, reasonably priced and the staff were very polite and swerved really quickly. I had to nip out and pay for an extra hour of parking as i really wouldn't chance a ticket.
We would definitely return, perhaps with a picnic on a nice sunny day, explore more and would quite like to see inside the Castle.

A beautiful venue for our wedding, with Rebecca and the team taking so much care of us and making the whole weekend feel very special. Ripley included many elements which other venues ask you to arrange yourself, leaving us to focus on the things that really matter. All involved were happy to be flexible, and accommodated us brilliantly, despite some last-minute changes in guests!

We visited the Tearooms and gained free entry to the Grounds and Gardens. I'm so glad we stopped at Ripley on the way over to Whitby for the weekend.

What a beautiful castle. Well built and clearly maintained. We first did the walled gardens, which, wasn't much but I am guessing is better in bloom, was still nice.

We then did the walk behind, lovely moat with a mini waterfall in it. Huge grounds to freely walk and the best part, the Deers! They are just roaming about and you can go up to them, not too close as they run away, and say hello.
