Burleigh Castle

A quaint building with a tower in small grounds set next to a road, there's not a huge amount to see but worth a stop if you are nearby.

While this castle is very, very small it is still a nice experience. The views of the Loch are quite nice from here and it is a short but lovely walk from Milnathort. It is a great place for kids to run and play. During the season you can pop across the road to pick up the key to get inside. It is well cared for and an interesting part of Scottish history.

Great for a free castle. You can get into one of the towers, but be sure to call ahead, as the caretaker of the key was not home when we got there.

Burleigh castle hidden gem, what is left off it good place to stop look around you can see the original entrance way where the draw bridge was and I can actually see where the stone went from castles ruins, to cottages across road there is no parking here but you can park near it if your careful it's on tight bend but traffic is very very light

I discovered this wee gem by mistake when I was driving back from Bishop Hill. It's currently closed, however I took some photos from outside. It is absolutely beautiful and Historic Environment Scotland as always have done an amazing job of maintaining it 💙

For easily accessible parking near this castle you can park on the streets on the left just before the castle

The tower house is under repair at the moment but it's a rather lovely preserved tower house

Nice to see on the way to loch Leven

All castles are cool, but this one's a little underwhelming. That's partly due to it being closed. It's only open during the summer.

Will revisit when it's open. That being said it's a great piece of history which is still standing

Great building to view but at the moment its fenced off due to falling masonry.
