It's a well kept monument with significant restoration work done. Furniture is recreated in a room which gives a feel of life in the past. Staff is polite and helpful. Worth visiting the second largest castle complex in the UK

AMAZING CASTLE!
Currently it's open but under renovation (hence the ugly scaffolding all over the place) but it's definitely worth visiting nevertheless.
If you don't want to pay to get inside, you can take in the views from the moat walkway all around the castle for free.

But if you pay the admission fee, you'll be rewarded with some stunning views over Caerphilly, some interesting rooms and lots of things to do inside. It's pretty much a one way system, so you don't have to think too hard when navigating the castle.

Overall, it's worth visiting.

We have a cadw membership and this was our first trip to Caerphilly Castle, we had a great day even with the conservation work being carried out where you can usually access! Beautiful views and the information boards easy to read and fun to read for kids meaning they can join in enjoying the history of the big beautiful castle grounds! My only downside was the dragons were barely visible and not at all enjoyable as they were covered by weeds and overgrown grass, if these had been cut back it would have been exciting to see them as it was one of the things my kids were excited about, very sad to see them neglected.

Very lovely castle. It's very easy to walk around and spend most of the day taking in the amazing scenery. It helped that it was a beautiful sunny day but even if it had been cloudy it would still be worth the look around. My favorite castle so far in the UK.

Absolutely wonderful time had by all!
Dog friendly on ground level.
Exploring was so much fun and so interesting for all of the family.
Shame about the scaffolding but rhe guidebook was really helpful in getting a good view of how the castle should be.

What struck me most about this castle is its external structure. I loved that it was still surrounded by water, which makes the scenery even more impressive. The leaning tower is really characteristic and the wooden statue that was placed there as a fake support is really funny. I was a little disappointed with the interior, but undoubtedly the castle is preserved in the best possible way. Undoubtedly worth visiting.

A most excellent castle indeed. Very large and open area. A most on all four sides. Some wonderful surprises and features. Lots of work is being done and it should be even better next year. We loved it and took a lot of photos. There is a great cafe across the road as well. Great gift shop too, picked up a lovely Penderyn whisky gift set. We'll definitely revisit some time.

Amazing castle complex. Walking through the park with the castle in view was a great way to start our day. We arrived early so there weren't many people there. It felt like we had the place to ourselves for most of our visit. The circular route was easy to follow, I do wish there was more informative signage. The giant booklet they give you at the entrance was a bit too much to digest while walking around. Regardless, it's a beautiful place for a wander.
