What a lovely castle a lot left compared to a lot I've been to in the past. Children enjoyed too I'd highly recommend this castle to anyone who enjoys ruins of old castles

Not really a castle so to speak, really a Manor House but plenty of it left to explore for an hour or so. Access off a small pathway from the main road (opposite a white gateway) easy to miss! A fairly easy walk through a cow field but not suitable for those with mobility problems.
Some areas have been locked off now due to vandalism by looks of things, and you can't get round to the garden at the back.

Fantastic place for a quiet adventure and a picnic. Lots to explore, and not far pff the beaten track. If you find the signs, trek through the cattle fields it wont take long to find!

A lovely old Elizabethan manor house, not a castle, but worth a visit, unfortunately you can't get to it by car , you have to park in the lanes and walk along the public footpath to it.

Really enjoyed visiting the castle. It’s in excellent condition, and feels like a little gem nestled in the hillside.
Only thing that dampened it (and this isn’t a suggestion that it should be any different) but there were cows in the first field when crossing using the public footpath. At one point I had my son walking the other side of the fence, as they were not happy to have the two of us there. We took a long detour, but I won’t be visiting again until they have been moved.
Obviously the footpath crosses farmland so this is completely acceptable and I would not expect any less, but we did not feel safe so have learnt for next time.
Looking forward to going back when my nerves don’t have to be tested quite so much!

Fascinating old ruined 'castle', dating from medieval times. In reality a fortified manor house. Information is provided on various information boards and there are wooden steps enabling access to an arial walkway. It is unstaffed and free to enter. Parking for two or three cars is available on St Athan Road just where it crosses the river, and the castle can then be acessed on foot via two fields of cows, about 15 mins walk. High stone stiles have to be climbed so the walk is not suitable for everyone.

Great old place. We walked from Llantwit major and according the the site it closes at 4 but we got there at 4.30 and the door was still open. Slightly disappointed that lots of areas were blocked of. But still a buitifull place

Not easy to find the entrance to to the site, sat Nov will take you to a farm with a warning sign of no entry to the castle, then when you can locate the sign and style its hidden by overgrown hedges. The access is over farmland, three fields.
Castle is currently closed, so only able to view outside area
