A small castle at the edge of a sleepy little town, with a beautiful backdrop. Visit was not entirely planned however glad that we ended up there as it was really nice. View from atop the towers are marvellous.

First thing - do not trust Google Maps to drive there, you need to park up elsewhere and walk down, there is no car park it will lead you to a dead end!
Once you do walk down it's absolutely beautiful. Lovely castle and surroundings. I would say it's not suitable really for those that need walking aids or rely on wheelchairs and not for small children - there are a lot of short walls/places to fall from!
There's a small box to pop your entry fee in on the way in. It's not much so worth a visit, but not a whole days visit and no refreshments available on site.

Amazing place only the second week after reopening post covid-19. You could be done in less than an hour as the site is small but very well kept. The views are amazing right down to the river and beyond. No parking on site and surrounding roads are narrow so be prepared to walk to the site.
If you have they time is also worth finding the footpath down to the river side which is also beautiful when you're down there.

I love a site of great castle ruins! The National Trust signage captured my imagination and interesting stories of the lovely Princess Nest.

If I did again, I would use the car park at the bottom by River Teigi and walk up the steep bank to explore the castle grounds, have a cuppa tea in town amongst the quaint stone alleys, and meander back to the river for a picnic with a float/ kayak/ paddleboard along the river.

Use the WC at the river car park as the castle one was closed.

Lovely little Castle you can have a nice wander around. If the weather is good there's plenty of space for a picnic. Dog friendly. With little kids you could stretch it out for hours, with surly teens we were there for about 2 hrs.

Fantastic ruined old castle, nice to see the different type of stone used to construct this type. No parking, you park in the village itself and a very short walk to the castle. Not a problem at all, but confusing as the sat nav and tourist signs try to get you to drive in to the moat, at that point it's difficult to turn anything but a small car around.

Nice castle, quite small but a couple of intact towers. The views are really nice there are some nice walks nearby.
Park at the bottom of the hill by the river and walk the path up to the castle.
