Today I went in to the shop with 7 bags of clothes shoes of great quality as moving house and are not taking them . I went in the shop to find 4 assistants talking I asked for some assistance to get bags I and the response was we are not allowed to go outside I thought ok I brought 2 more bags in put them on th floor they said I had to carry them in to back of shop but again with no help so I removed them and are taking them to other charity shops and will not support Barnardos again.

Unbelievable! You would expect that they would receive FREE saleable items and sell them on bahalf of their charity.
My experience has been staff that are bordering on rude and dismissive and refuse perfectly saleable almost new unmarked items.
Same items taken to British Heart foundation who were very happy to receive.
If it was junk I would take it to the tip!
Bernardo's would be in serious trouble if they were to rely on this shop.

Used to be a nice shop, now it's full of overpriced and broken things. Manager is rude and follows you round the shop tutting if you look at anything, volunteers look miserable and it's never open, when it is they don't want donations anyway. Steer clear.

I love the Barnados shop in Brayton, I never leave empty handed.
The staff are so positive, helpful and friendly.
The shop is always well stocked and so attractive.

Drive 4 minutes into town and drop with any of the other shops who are happy to take donations (you can even park on the double yellows to quickly unload!)

… “we close in 10 minutes I’m not taking that ..” and “ I’ve nowhere to store donations…” now I’m no charity shop running genius but I would think maybe using your “stock room” and creating a location for donations might be a sensible idea.

Even if you had absolutely nowhere to put them or they need to be sorted immediately..may I suggest something along the lines of..

“wow thanks so much for thinking of us and coming to drop us donations but I’m so sorry we have to sort things out straight away and today we were overwhelmed with donations so can’t accept anymore at the moment …”

might be a bit radical but just a suggestion - British heart foundation have a bin on entry to drop your donations in and were lovely.

Whoever this was should probably reconsider their career choice as I don’t think charity or customer service are your greatest assets. I’m not sure charity should be funding your current skill set unfortunately.
