Golden House

I live quite close so have eaten here a lot. The food use to be great, now, not so much. Maybe it's me and I just get unlucky but I seem to get the bottom of the chip back where all the crumbs are. The beef is extremely chewy I don't manage to eat much of it, but yet I keep re ordering because it's the only place I like the oyster sauce! I appreciate the free prawn crackers :)

Good quality Chinese takeaway with classic fish and chips. The portions are quite big, they offer a "lunch box" just for £5.50 including a drink and fish & chips are always fresh and tasty. They make their own chips (fresh potatoes) not frozen one without taste etc and the staff is usually very nice.

So, know what, not a bad place! Well priced, open late so who can complain? Ordered here a few times and it’s just standard. But when you ordered the same meal many times, but when the country who gave us our current situation cannot peel the stickers off the peppers that they have fried in my food???? Thanks for giving us the world we live in, or though I don’t enjoy eating stickers on my peppers or keeping 2m away from the ones I love. Gooooooooo China!!!!

We like it but can be hit and miss depending on what day/time you order. Some days the food is fabulous and really fresh and others like a warm up! They do have chippy chips though if you like chips with your chinese.

First time I’m doing a review as I feel I’ve had a moral obligation to do so to save people their hard earned money.

First time ordered here and will be my last. I don’t like to leave bad reviews but equally there will be people, couples, families etc forking out £35 like I did tonight and be let down.

The food came with the sweet and sour sauce crushed and leaked everywhere in the carrier bag. The chicken and rice had felt days old and re-heated in a microwave.

The prawn toast was hard and the rice, as well as feeling it being re-heated, had no flavour.

I’m hoping this review comes across as honest and not emotional due to the food being so bad.

Very disappointed.

I ordered chips from here a few times, very good chips. Then tried the cod from here and I have to say great portion size , good value for money . Will definitely return. Good to support small local businesses

still not received our food and it has been over 2 hours since we ordered. Rang the takeaway 4 times and each time been told that our food is on its way and will be here soon …

Ordered for the first time here, will not be again though.

Ordered salt and pepper fish which should be dry (not cod pieces that you get in a fish and chip shop! ) which is what i got. Had this dish from numerous chinese and thai shops and never ever had this dish served with cod pieces, exactly like baby cods from chippy.

Rice as bland as anything. Asked for soya sauce on rice to make rice brown and flavoured - request ignored.

Container so cheap it cracked on opening dish.

Disappointing that I wasted my money here and also the length of time for delivery and driver then moaning on phone that he could not find address, had to go out and meet him!!
