Sew Stitch 'n' Clean

Had my wedding suit altered here and had a great experience with the staff. Needed to have the leg and sleeve length adjusted. the staff were very friendly, and showed genuine interest in the event. They gave their expert opinion on the adjustments I wanted, helping to prevent me from making a mistake for the big day. The alteration took about a week to complete, and the staff insisted I try it on to ensure that the fit was perfect. Would definitely recommend them.

I have never left a bad review before but I have been incredibly frustrated with this service. I called and made an appointment to go in and have a dress altered twice, and both times the shop was shut. On one of the occasions, there was a sign saying that they would be back in 20 minutes so I waited for half an hour (after my original appointment time) and still nobody turned up. I cannot bring myself to try for a third time as I have already wasted a significant amount of time on this. It has put me in a very difficult position with my dress and I wouldn't recommend this service if you want any kind of reliability.

They went above and beyond for me, staying late on a Friday to make sure I had my suit in time for a wedding. Excellent work, too!

Unfortunately I had a bad experience here. I was told that my Maid of Honour dress would be ready to collect the morning of my sisters wedding. To confirm this, I called Sew Stitch 'n' Clean the previous day and they responded by saying it would be ready at 11. However, when I arrived to collect my dress I discovered it had not been altered and all the pins were still attached. They had clearly forgotten about it. With only a few hours to spare, they had to quickly make the amendments. As a result, I missed my makeup appointment and precious time with my sister before her wedding.
After all this unnecessary stress, I asked for a refund and disappointingly the best she could offer was 30% off our next alteration. Safe to say, we will not be returning.
In future, please do not commit to do 'favours' for customers if you cannot fulfil these. You agreed you could make the alterations in the given time period. An apology was never received, nor will we get any form of refund. Instead, my sister was sent a hostile and poorly worded text that aimed to put the blame on her.

Had my wedding dress altered here for my wedding in April 2020 which was then cancelled due to lockdown. 18 months later and a few pounds heavier, Ayu worked her magic and transformed the dress back to perfection. I cannot recommend her services highly enough. I did also have a slight timing issue, when something was promised, but again, Ayu sorted out this oversight quickly and efficiently. She also altered an off the shelf suit for my husband so that it looked tailored for him. Will definitely be using again

Disappointed with the customer engagement and service. Arrived with one skirt for dry cleaning and a few things to alter, only to be told that my (freshly washed) clothes for alteration could not be taken in because they had come into contact with the skirt for dry cleaning. I have never been told this by any other dry cleaner / mender and it resulted in a wasted trip for me. This policy was not made clear anywhere (I even called earlier to say I was coming in). Having complained along these lines at the time, I was told that ‘educated people’ felt otherwise! Then the owner tried to push me into having the clothes I only wanted mended, dry cleaned first, so that the alteration could take place according to their policy. Rude, unprofessional, money-grabbing service.

This was my first experience of using Sew Stitch 'n' Clean and it was amazing from start to finish. They had been a recommendation from a trusted friend, and she couldn’t have been more right. I visited with four pairs of work trousers during the first lockdown, and it was all very safe social distancing-wise. Ayu looked after me and recommended that as well as having the trousers taken up, that I should have the waist taken in as it bagged out by two or three inches at the back. I thought that a belt would do. How right she was to suggest this! She did all four pairs beautifully. Now I am back at work full-time and each time I put on the trousers I don’t even have to think about the fit. The waist and overall fit is now perfect. No belt needed which I am thrilled about. How I could ever have even doubted the waist alteration suggestion?! Ayu knows her stuff and does a brilliant job. She is very skilled and experienced and a thoroughly lovely person. Very customer focussed and a joy to work with. We are very lucky that she is in Haywards Heath and I won’t hesitate now to take everything to her. Thanks, Ayu, you are a star!

I highly recommend this place. A dress that really didn't fit now looks absolutely wonderful. Nothing but perfection would do from the proprietor.
