Wonderful breakfast today at Hettys Tea Shop, location was nice we sat outside by the canal as dogs are not allowed inside.
I had oatcakes which were amazing. Just was a shame that outside they serve your food in bags not plates.
Lots of free parking and your can combined a visit to Hettys with a walk along the canal.
Would have scored it a 5 but none of the staff knew how to smile and having food in paper bags and trays wasn’t great.
Would come again for the location and great food.

Lovely tea shop excellent breakfast, cream teas & meals. Easy parking covered areas & outside dog friendly (would be even better if they allowed well behaved dogs inside). Great shaded canal walks from cafe, lots of wildlife & unspoilt. Could be a lovely easy walk from Kingsley & Froghall Railway Station, Churnet Valley Railway

A great little pit-stop for the local Froghall Wharf Walk routes. Charming, inside and out, with a good selection of savoury and sweet fayre; however, £3 for a can of Diet Coke … 😳
That said, the food is tasty and the portions are generous.
Free Parking is an added benefit!
Will definitely be going again.

The place and location are lovely as always however lack of toilet facilities along with increasing prices are becoming a visit limiter. £9.50 for a filled baked potato, a bit steep.

Pre-booked afternoon tea in the dome for two. The service was excellent, fast and friendly. The food was lovely especially the home-made bits but the few store bought bits let it down when compared with the excellent home made bits but it was lovely to have so much choice. We'd definitely go here again but just for normal lunch dinner etc as although the experience was lovely the afternoon tea seems a little expensive for what you get when compared with other places we've visited but this is in no way a complaint as we really enjoyed it all I just think the rest of the menu seems more value for money as this was £42 for two people.

We read great reviews for Hetty's and visited with our 4 children (10, 9, 7 year olds and 18 months old). We thoroughly enjoyed our vegan sandwiches, chips, finishing off with an oat milk latte, but the food was very expensive (x3 sandwiches, x5 portions of chips, x2 lattes and 5 soft drinks was the best part of £50!!) Unfortunately they had no vegan cake in the day we visited but the other cakes available looked amazing! The customer service was OK, not great but not horrendous either. We enjoyed; reading about the nearby lime kilns, talking a walk along the canal and completed the circular blue trail (with the very steep steps diversion!!!)

Absolutely beautiful location and can get very busy.

This is a (not so) hidden. Thankfully, I ordered my food and drink before the queue started. The employee who served me was lovely and patient with me when I couldn't decide what cake I wanted. I choose a delicious cheesecake and a home made sausage roll. Both were five star. I found a place to sit and eat easily as there was plenty of seating for all. I sat Infront of the cannel and enjoyed my view. Was a great experience. I'm definitely going back for another slice of cake.
