Have a lot of vital and at times unexpected household items (apart from food), ie stationary, phone chargers, toilet unpluggers, even gloves for the cold. They ve gained my highest respect as worked their heads off throughout the COVID crisis and bravedd the risks to provide a vital help for the local Shelford community. Ive now benefited from this versatile store for well over 5 years and even when I just passed by occasionally "urgent" cheap stuff I was always treated with politeness. From reading a few upsetting reviews below I realised with sadness that just like at my job at NHS frontline, this shop gets apparently occasionally very challenging or confrontational visitors. They may not realise that a Post office carries a huge responsibility and legal committment. The vast majority of villagers I witnessed went into this shop/post office with a smile and came out with an even bigger smile!
They would turn me and my packages away even with 5 minutes left before they close the post office counter.
The owner gets annoyed with me when I use the cheaper online Royal Mail Online Postage system because it means he gets paid less on each package. However I need to use it so I have the files saved on my computer.
They are supposed to give you a proof of postage receipt so you know the item has been sent but they can’t be bothered to do it half the time unless you ask them to
.
They also dislike international packages because it takes them slightly longer (heaven forbid).
I have to admit I am sick of this place.
The only reason they have the counter is probably so they can get people to buy from their shop, which only accepts £5 minimum card payment.
The person is grumpy behind the counter in the post office side
When i went to collect my £150 council tax rebate from post office, immediately he refused it after I handed over the letter.
However, after long conversation, he agreed.
Hilarious.. not sure why he refused and why i had to even go for a long conversation. Careless and lazy guy standing in the post office side taking advantage of being the only one in the neighbourhood. If possible, try to avoid at any cost… the worst one i have seen ever.
Shop is ok…
I told him that he shouldn't say this because it can be seen as an implicit threat that my documents will be lost unless I buy a more expensive service. He wouldn't have any of it, kept repeating that my important document "might be lost" and insisted he was just doing his job.
I find such tactics deplorable and as this is not the first time, I took my custom elsewhere and he won't be seeing me again.
