Co-op Food - Croydon - 61 Lower Addiscombe Rd

The staff here are friendly and polite and I always say hello when I'm in. Was served by Lucy today and she had fantastic customer service, smiled said hello and goodbye and asked if I wanted a bag.

They work hard especially when they have to deal with people that go in to complain or try and steal items in the shop.

Local small and handy, but with limited range of stock ie limited quantities delivered infrequently. When they run out of an item it can be weeks before it is on shelves again or it is sold out as soon as it arrived. Either way fundamental stockeeping problems. The biggest problem is getting into shop to buy anything. Entrance/ exit door on west side of shop is usually locked shut so you cannot get in and have to go to window at east side to ask check out operators to kindly admit you to shop.

At night 2 out of 3 roller shutters are closed at least 1 hour before closing time, therefore no one (if there is anyone) at check outs can observe entrance/exit door and no other staff go near the door or aisles adjacent to door in order to avoid admitting customers. This enables staff to be unaware of customers outside, not to admit customers after 9pm so that staff can walk out of shop and lock 3rd shutter and at 10pm on the dot.

Arrived at 3.40pm 6 November, to find 6 customers queuing outside, 30+ customers queuing and blocking aisles inside, on 3 sides of shop, to get to one cashier. 2 other members of staff fighting to get through 30+ customers to stack shelves. After 20 minutes one of the shelf stickers went to open 2nd till. I finally left with my 3 items about 4.10pm.

If you don't believe me, check your tills and see how many were in use, between which times and how many customers paid at each.

Very poor choice of food,hardly anything to buy.gone even more downhill after covid outbreak started. Shelves are empty,shop is closed whenever they feel like. When you ask they say they are open till 10pm but somehow its always closed when I finish work at 8pm. Some days they close it middle of a day for an hour. Its hugely inconvenient. Worst CO-op by far.

I was just served by a lady named Nadine. She had absolutely terrible customer service. I asked her if a item was in stock and she replied with it used to be in a hostile manner and did not even look at me when she said it. This lady definitely has a attitude problem. She spends most of the time just bickering away with another guy who works there and a white elderly lady. horrible experience for me.

The customer service of Co op is always friendly, welcoming and like a family village. The challenges they face with some of the local rehab customers abusing and robbing the store daily commends the Coop workers more as they still give us great service. Thank you

Breaking the law some products are being advertised for price like 1 pound or 1.25 then next thing you know you go to pay for it then its 1.25 and 1.65 then you tell the staff there and they won't do nothing to fix it sometimes even ignoring you its been going on for a mouth now fix the issue or re train your staff

I liked this branch because it was big and stocks more than other Coop branches in the area.
However when I tried ot visit the other day, the signage had gone and the windows were covered.

It's not too bad but the prices are insanely high! It's okay if you want a meal deal, gum or veg but apart from that it's way to expensive. East Croydon is five mins away so just travel the extra distance.
