The 'gateway' between The Exedra with the imposing Cedars and the Italian Gardens stills conveys a confident authority, comfortable in its dominion.

This is a lovely historical piece of architecture designed by the renowned 17th Century architect Inigo Jones. It started off life in Chelsea but in the 18th Century Lord Burlington who had started building his vision for Chiswick House and Gardens purchased it and re-located it in 1738. Simply a beautiful design with classic proportions.
