Not much of a good spot for an evening picnic due to large numbers of teenagers hanging out blaring out music, inhaling laughing gas and getting rowdy. Also lots of mosquitos here in late summer so expect to be bitten.

This stone didn't judge me once. 4/5 would say things in its presence again.

First time visiting today and it was amazing. In the time of the current outrage of the continually offended I felt pretty free to say what was on my mind in the presence of this inanimate erection. Although I didn't have the need nor desire to say 'bum', 'fart' or even 'whoppie' I am pretty sure I could have gotten away with it there. I will certainly visit again.

Curiously shaped, man-made marker of unknown age, origin and apocryphal associations.
Isolated on the eastern slope of Parliament Hill, a solitary presence awaiting ANY company and the possibility of a gathered crowd.
Unlikely.
Essentially inessential Hampstead Heath.

The Stone of Free Speech is on the way down Parliament Hill, to the east. It’s origins are sketchy, but it’s thought that the Stone was a focus of religious and political meetings around 200 years ago, and until fairly recently it had an inscription on it to the effect that the space around the stone is available for public meetings. If anyone reading happens to the full inscription, let me know!

Well, this is indeed a stone. Feels stony and robust enough. Somewhat lacks in the atmosphere though hence only 4 stars.

Have visited Hampstead Heath many times, and so far this stone has been left unturned. 5/5 for anticipation.
