Great place for a family walk, lovely scenic views of country side and of London in the distance. Also very peaceful considering its next to the M11. We took our daughter for an educational walk, lots of nature to experience, different plants and lots of insects.

View of London is amazing. You can hear the motorway but it's not overpowering, the earthworks website mentions it's covered in trees up to two
Meters tall. Seems that never happened as it is all covered in grass. You can just about make out the grooves but the grass in them it's nearly add Tall as the mounds themselves. If you come by car remember to park in nearby theydon bois cemetery, it's free and literally next door.

Woke up here once after a couple of WKDs and a cheeky seance. Seemed nice.

A lovely earthworks land art installation. I had a great view from a coach whilst in traffic on the motorway that runs next to the field. It looked great covered in ice on a cold day. I did a bit of research if you are interested, it is apparently a Woodland Trust project built in 2012/13, funded by Greenarc and designed by artist Richard Harris. It will eventually have trees different species of trees growing around the paths. As of 2023 I couldn't see any trees yet. It'll be a fantastic evolving artwork for future generations if there are trees planeted there.

Really loved it here, well tbh was stuck in a traffic jam forv45 minutes on the M11 so didn't really see that much of it.

January 4th, 2022.

A good peaceful walk (after horrendous traffic & more building being done, giving us 1000s more cars in the future, taking green space away, which had a 'Covenant' on!)

from Langston rd & Epping Forest Shopping Centre (near Debden tube), past the Bank of England & Manjal restaurant. Several ways to walk...

But despite asking EFDC R.O.Way team about repairing the bridge over the stream to the fields, nothing has been done.
Maybe we will make one...

It takes about 40 mins to get to the maze & Theydon Bois cemetery & really good views.
A friend said the view reminded him of Wiltshire.

Then you will be near Theydon Bois & have can lunch/tea etc there... Very good butchers selling local venison.
Both butchers sell it, but maybe only until February 2022.

No trees have been planted, on the Earthworks, but it would get lost with trees on it, unless tall cypress column type trees.
The only thing letting the walk down is the awful noise of the motorway.
More trees need planting.

I (& others) have contacted WOODLAND TRUST, many times to re establish a path into Theydon Bois woods, where it begins near the Bridge to Abridge at Debden...
Then we could walk & be more quiet.
There was a path when it was first planted... Maybe we could find it!!!
But Iv found several different ways to go...
Lovely skylarks in the summer & parts where blue Flaxseed is grown & purple Comfrey & beehives in fields nearer Debden.

I will chat to the farmer one day, as we wish to look after this land too, huge ditches are very frustrating, but we just walk further to get over!

Going back to TBois Woods,
There are good paths & entrances further along towards Theydon. But no cares about Debden... it seems, but I'll persevere, life's too short not to enjoy & WALK!
Have FUN...

As a local and a machine digger driver. I actually dug the trial holes for these earthworks. I worked with a team of four geologists, to dig the trial holes, for them to ascertain what was beneath. Interesting 2 days work.
