Just one of those precious, special places where you can spend hours looking and buying. Great shop, fantastic stuff, and a place you wouldn't want to miss even if it was just during your daily walk. Nice coffee and sandwiches.

Really great service ordering from H. Gunton's online shop. We ordered at the weekend and our order was delivered Tuesday morning. They have a great selection of Tiptree products available to buy online which aren't available at the big supermarkets.

Amazing quality and service. I have visited and shopped at Gunton for many years. We got married last week and Gunton supplied the three tiers of cheese with a cheddar in a red waxed heart and a large pork pie and chicken pie. Chris spent time helping us choose the right cheeses and sizes. Excellent quality, looked beautiful and the service was reliable. The price was very reasonable. I have never been disappointed by the service or products I have bought from Guntons. The cheese counter and coffee selection is like a magnet for my husband. The shop interior is like stepping back in town. I hope this gem of a shop is here for many years to come.

Only just found this amazing shop existed recently when looking for speciality teas online. Go to Colchester for big shops quite often but tend to stick to main town centre. Made special trip here on Saturday and was glad I did! Went in for the special teas and came out with cheese, pies and other bits and pieces. Absolute Aladdin's cave. Lovely staff . Will be making it a regular trip and hope to visit tearoom next time. So nice to see shops like this still exist so if you want a different shopping experience definitely pay them a visit.

A piece of Colchester history that should never be allowed to disappear. Many a wonderful visit. Good for cheese lovers, coffee lovers, foodies in general and great for dietary requirements also, i.e. vegan choices. Also a café upstairs for part of the day. Friendly staff.

As a long-time customer of Guntons when I lived in Colchester, I turned to them to supply an online order, after moving to a new area. What a disappointment..!!!
Although my order was taken by them with the correct address (and invoiced as such) the address given to the courier company was incorrect - meaning the package was then delivered to the wrong place.
This careless error has caused no end of problems for the courier company, the (incorrect) recipient and myself.
Sorry Guntons, after spending many £000s in your shop, I expected an online service which I could rely on - sadly that has not proved to be the case.
I'm truly disappointed by your carelessness. On-line purchasers beware !!

Wonderful old style shop with lots of quality products, great selection of cheese,whole bean coffee and loose-leaf tea not seen elsewhere, customer service is always great. Will be back!

Great shop. No longer local but visit when in the area. Lovely selection of cheeses.
