I struggled with tooth ache and discomfort intermittently throughout this period. Soon as dentists were allowed to open, I was back. The tooth that had root canal treatment was very loose, plus the bottom tooth under this was still giving me grief. I spent months avoiding chewing. During lock down I lost half my wisdom tooth at the back and a large filling had come out of another. After spending a fortune having the root canal treatment, this tooth was pulled out, costing around £500 in total. The dentist said he wasn’t happy about doing the root canal in the first place, but I had no idea what was on the x-ray. I was given two large temporary dressings on the back teeth and was told the lower tooth should settle down now the upper one is removed as it could still be secondary pain from the one above. I was told there wasn’t time in my appointment to deal with this as I only had a 40-minute appointment and the back temporary fillings were a priority to stop their pain. I phoned to make another appointment. The receptionist said she would call me back, but no phone call received. I rang again but then changed my mind and decided to go elsewhere.
Not being able to find an NHS dentist, I found another private practice who gave me a thorough plan following the x-rays and a list of options for treatments complete with prices and priority treatment needed to prevent long term problems for all my teeth. I did not get this with Burton Lodge. It was a case of me telling them what I wanted doing as they were emergency appointments. Maybe this is why. Nevertheless, it was an emergency appointment at the other practice too. Prior to Burton Lodge I have used NHS dentists and was always given a plan of works needed following any treatment complete with a check-up. In addition, they have completed all treatment necessary whilst my mouth was numbed. It was like the doctors, you expected to wait as no one knew how long the appointment would take. I now have a full idea of what needs doing and what is going on with all the roots of my crowns, which will lead to more infections if not treated. The other practice made the time to go through my x-rays with me and explain everything on them. I feel sad that I didn’t get this information from Burton Lodge. I felt they never had time, even before lock-down. They seem very keen to keep appointment times strictly within the time allocated regardless. This is good so no one is waiting but not so good if you need a bit longer for treatment while your mouth is numb and then have to pay another appointment fee to come back and get numbed up again.
The practice staff lie a lot to cover there mishaps.. Only for those that pay . NHS patients only there to make up the numbers Just look at the patients list. Only foreigners welcome.
The treatment will not be complete for a few months yet but I have full confidence in Dr Rami and highly recommend his practice.
