Caldecott Dental Practice

I had a tooth abscess not long ago and the dentist Dr Tiong took it out painlessly as my dentist who is also in the same practice does not want to take it out.
There are a few dentists work here but I will be seeing Dr Tiong from now on. She is so gentle and took the time to explain.

Few years ago I had a wisdom tooth causing the worst pain I'd ever felt, had antibiotics for it, had an X-ray done here on my teeth and nothing was found. A week or so later as I was flossing, half of the problematic tooth fell out! How was this crack in my tooth missed when an X-ray was done. Had this crack been found sooner I wouldn't have had to get the tooth removed. The dentist I saw (NHS) was rough, extremely rude, patronising etc (telling me to stop laughing - I laughed in an embarrassed way because the black card I had to put in my mouth before the x ray made me gag a bit so i laughed it off). Overall attitude of the dentist was just highly unprofessional.

I have been a patient at this dental practise for many years and have never had cause to complain about any of the treatment I have received. It’s a friendly practice in pleasant surroundings. My dentist Dr Afshary has always been very clear in his explanation of treatment required and careful in its application. He has always been caring and considerate and I would not hesitate to recommend him.

I had not been to the dentist in years (partly COVID, partly fear) so was apprehensive when I booked an appointment. I didn't have to wait very long at all, depsite being warned a general backlog would make it difficult to find a dentist appointment anywhere. Elizabeth put me at ease straight away. The appointment was over before I knew it and my next appointment booked. Everyone I dealt with was kind, thorough and efficient. I would highly recommend.

I signed up as a NHS patient a couple of years ago. Had an issue with an old root canal on my front tooth, which he identified, but referred me to an excellent private surgery to resolve.

Check-ups seemed cursory, and he seemed much more interested in selling hygienist appointments than checking my teeth properly.

The final straw came a few weeks ago when I woke one morning with excruciating pain in one of my teeth. Managed to get a short notice appointment and took an hour out of work one morning. He was very insistent that it was an abscess caused by improper brushing (scraping some food deposits from my teeth as 'proof', despite the fact I'd only eaten my breakfast an hour previously and had had no opportunity for a further brush since) and packed me off with some antibiotics.

The antibiotics didn't really change anything, so I went to a different dentist for a second opinion. The second dentist said there was nothing wrong with the state of my oral health or my brushing/flossing practices, but was shocked that Caldecott Dental Practice had failed to notice that the tooth that was causing me issues had clearly split in half down the middle, showing me the pictures and X rays to prove it.

Needless to say, I won't go back.
