My dad and step mum are patients here. It can take 5-6 hours to get through on the phone. It's always engaged. It takes five minutes for me to to reach a receptionist at my surgery in Newcastle which covers a bigger area and has more patients. It must be very stressful for elderly people trying to access healthcare. I would advise changing to a different surgery. I

Phone today for an appointment apparently you have no appointments at any of your surgeries in the foreseeable future unless I ring tomorrow at 8am (that’s a joke in itself) or come into the surgery but that is not advisable and or wanted by your rude member of staff. Will not let me book on the NHS app either. Can Royal Primary get worse? Doubt it.

I have lived in a few different areas and this is by far the worst GP surgery I have ever experienced. It is extremely difficult to get an appointment. The phone may never be answered. When I have had appointments I was rushed in and rushed out by a very disinterested doctor. The Reception staff can also be quite rude or distracted talking amongst them selves. Avoid Royal Primary care if at all possible. (Thought I'd update my review to say I have registered with another practice and it's night and day. Royal Primary care really is a disgrace and it is very sad that some people aren't able to travel to another practice)

Really bad trying to get through on the phone and when I eventually did, they couldn't hear me and hung up. Couldn't book online with a Doctor, as only nurses available. Big changes needed!

It's not the staff, it's the system, you can't get through on the phone, if you do you run the risk of them not being able to hear you and then hanging up.
Do yourself a favour, don't sign up there!

I want to just talk about 1 lovely lady by the name of Karen (Ford?) who works as a receptionist at Rectory Road surgery. Karen is always friendly, professional and takes time to really listen to any queries you have, which I'm afraid others don't do. Karen has worked at Rectory Road for many years and has a great rapport with the patients. Karen always goes above and beyond with patients and diserves to be recognised. She is a credit to your team and trust. Thank you Karen, your professionalism and friendliness is really appreciated.

I'd give half a star if I could. Phoned up for an appointment, after 48 minutes on hold I got through. But fair enough, the receptionist did try to help me and was polite. Was offered a telephone appointment which I took as that's all that was necessary to be honest. I still needed medical advice from a doctor though. This never came, as the doctor never called me as I'd been told they would. This was more annoying as I'd been awake all afternoon waiting for the phone call after a nightshift! And yes I do mean afternoon, because that's how long it took me to get through! I then listened to the automated system for over 45 minutes as already stated. Not happy at all. My other half had been telling me the service was terrible for herself and our children but this was my first experience with the surgery. I left the military last year and they had always provided my healthcare to the highest level so to go from that to this, is a bit of a shock. I'm aware it's very different but it's still not the level of service that we deserve.
