I got told to phone at 9am for a doctors appointment and then 8:30am the next day, I have been trying for 3 days straight to get an appointment. The receptionists actually make it difficult to get a 10 minute appointment and treat students disgustingly. They decided to work half days over Easter meaning that on a Friday there are only 2 DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS for the 25,000 students that attend Hertfordshire. You can understand the frustration everyone must feel when trying to book an appointment with receptionists who simply don’t care enough to point out this issue to higher authorities seeing as they are the ones who I can only assume are having to let down many students every day who are unwell.
The nurses and doctors are absolutely lovely and have always been helpful and caring - the work they put into UH students is amazing. It’s such a shame that the experience is ruined by the receptionists.
Mind you, I call WAY before 12:30 every single time.
I even took covid tests before calling as to make sure they wouldn’t refuse treatment, but that’s completely useless.
I suffered for two weeks with a severe sore throat that they wrongly prescribed antibiotics for because they refused to see my throat in person.
It is simply impossible to get treatment if you’re sick at an inconvenient time. You can only be sick between 8am and 8:30am apparently.
I will have to leave a formal complaint because this is unacceptable.
How can anyone see a doctor in this town?
Are we meant to visit the hospital every time we have an ear infection?
This is THE WORST healthcare I have ever experienced in my life.
The doctor have also called me a drug seeker and denied my allergies to NSAIDs, telling me I was making it up.
My gastroparesis was brushed off as "well all women struggle with their weight and should jusy count calories"
They've messed my medication up numerous times, given me lethal mixes, and then refused to fulfil my consultant's orders. I've been here five years and it's gone so far downhill it's ridiculous.
I called in to enquire nicely about a travel vaccination, and I also nicely asked them if the nurse is able to check my records to see which vaccination is safe, and the reply I got was "Check the records yourself, you should know what you have".
When I went in-person the other day, I sent them an e-mail saying that I am trying to get a jab for the last 3 weeks, they tried to brutally verbally attack me in front of 2 other people. I literally stormed out of the place, all humiliated and confused.
To anyone who is not well, don't come to this snake pit only to get your head bitten off. Go to the surgery just off Bishop's Rise.
What's the point of having a university surgery anyway. It is not at all necessary.
