My first time at the Orchard surgery but I can't praise this practice highly enough, the doctor I had my consultation with today was excellent, and i have to say that she also had a very genuine concern about my health which is very reassuring to me! I would like to say thank you, and also thank the national health service in general in our times of need! How lucky we are to have such excellent staff from all over the globe and world class standards of health at our fingertips.

I personally have never had any issues, yes theyre busy but arent all GP Surgery's, the staff are helpful and they always do their best to fit me in.

This surgery's RECEPTION is unbelievably poor.
When calling for an appointment I've never been answered in less than 20 minutes.
I've actually called them whilst standing in their reception and listened to my call whilst it had been left to ring by 4 (yes FOUR) members of staff, whilst they've stood around chatting and laughing. When I challenged them I was told they were "in training".
It's been like this for years.
I've given them one star as there's not an option to leave none...…..
USELESS !

My wife made 380 phone calls to in 45 min when she should cal to make apoiment and they say that she is to late to make apoiment for 4 years old...she went to doctor and they say is no better come back ..after weekend she try rang them today so far we made 450 calls or number is busi or it ring and nobody pick up and then it cut you off...sooo what to do? U have chocking child who need medical help and if u ring 111 they can’t do anything as it is gp responsibly to see his patient...but how? If there is no way we can ring them?

Things are gradually settling down from all the changes that have taken place , not just the Orchard but including the Barn and Burton. All the NHS cutbacks and what you can and what you can't have any more e.g. ear syringing, varicose veins). All the new procedures for making appointments, be it doctor or nurse, obtaining repeat prescriptions. Blood tests at surgeries (a welcome change).

Everyone is beginning to calm down from this major, and chaotic upheaval. Staff have had to put up with just as much as patients.

We should now be able to be civil and polite as the frustrations are understood by both parties.

Looking with interest as the practice continues to improve and expand on an already sound bas.e.

This is the worst GPs I have ever encountered. I would give zero stars if I could.
The phone system is a mess, and once you do get through you will NOT be given an appointment if they can help it. In my latest interaction I was finally given an appointment after multiple phone calls, and despite explaining my condition fully on the phone, the nurse who eventually saw me was not qualified to carry out the necessary exam. It was a total waste of time.

I have allowed for the fact that they have been restructuring and merging with other surgeries and given them the benefit of the doubt during the process. But even after things settled prior to covid, it was still a shambles.

On top of that the doctors don't seem to care about your health at all, only doing the bare minimum required and not investigating or attempting to find out what's wrong unless you constantly hound them.
I have been there multiple times for different complaints, and usually discontinue treatment feeling like nothing has really been resolved.
(Once I was given an appointment at another surgery in burton and the nurse was very good and sorted me out so it hasn't been all bad. But the orchard surgery is the one I have issues with.)

Worst of all. My friend has had multiple prescriptions, and every time she has to reiterate that she allergic to certain antibiotics. Despite telling them this on multiple occasions, last time the GP still prescribed her something that could kill her. Even when she called back to make sure (and had to change the prescription because she was allergic to it), the GP didn't even bother to cancel the prescription and she was sold drugs she was allergic to! If she had been forgetful or not checked the ingredients, that could of had serious results and is negligence plain and simple.

Please avoid this surgery if you value your health, because they don't.

I cant praise the surgery enough. From the receptionists to the doctors and nurses, they are fabulous. They have often helped me really quickly and always go the extra mile. The only trouble is, I can never move out of the area, because I could never leave this practice.

The staff are lovely - This particular practice is struggling tremendously, after 12 years of Conservative governing the NHS in a pretty bad state. We are now feeling the effects in a very real way.
