The person who served me told me that it would be mended, ironed and would be ready for collection anytime on Wednesday.
Come Wednesday morning I arrived to collect my shirt and a different member of the staff attempted to lie to me, trying to convince me that they had said "Wednesday afternoon collection". This was not the case.
Clearly they hadn't bothered to sew and fix my shirt in the five days since I had dropped it off, and instead of being honest they chose to lie. Disappointing.
We agreed that the shirt would be ready for pickup in 30 minutes, so I waited in a nearby cafe. When I finally collected the 'fixed' shirt I wore it to work to discover that the rip had reopened, causing further damage to the garment.
I wouldn't recommend this business, not only did they fail spectacularly to mend the garment (causing the tear to double in size) they also attempted to lie to make themselves look better. Very disappointing. 👎🏻
I took a scarf to have the seams repaired and they found a hole and patched it with a completely ridiculous patch - photo attached. I went back to get a refund, because this is worse than the original damage - they defended the work saying it needed to be patched and that they "didn't have the original fabric." Of course they didn't have it, no one would have it, but why didn't they use something that remotely resembled the rest of the scarf (that doesn't originally have any tags/patches of any kind)- it's kind of like patching a wall and matching the paint color??
They gave me a partial refund - £5 for the dry cleaning, but really didn't understand why I'd have an issue with this, that now needs further repair. I don't think anyone would think this was a good choice. I also didn't ask them to patch anything - I asked to the seams to be re rolled.
My advice is that they are probably reliable for very basic repairs (buttons, straightforward seams) and dry cleaning but DO NOT take anything here that you treasure or is made of high end fabric. I have a friend who took a cashmere sweater to them that was also damaged. If you don't know how to fix something - DON'T!
I brought my trousers to Vic's to do a simple alteration. The owner quoted me a decent price and told me to come back in a few days to pick them up (he told me he'd personally do the job himself). When I returned a few days later, I tried on the trousers and the alteration was absolutely awful. The fabric was all bunched up in the front and the plaid pattern was completely crooked and misaligned. They were unwearable. I brought this up to the owner and he was very irritated and started agitatedly asking me "what do you want?? What do you want??". As I had already paid him for the alteration (my first mistake, they only take cash), we worked out a compromise on how to make them functional. He told me that they'd be ready by that Thursday. I came by the shop on the following Tuesday with the ticket for the trousers. The shop owner couldn't find the trousers and walked around the store scratching his head with a blank look for 20 minutes. He started rummaging through a heap of unwashed clothes on the floor, and there they were at the bottom--in the same state as before. He'd obviously lost the trousers and forgot to alter them, but instead of taking responsibility for not doing the job, he started making some BS excuse that "ohh, they're unfixable, I already altered them etc." When I asked why wouldn't he have just called me if they were so unfixable, and why'd he leave them on a pile on the floor, he got flustered and just stared blankly at me. He started going on about how he'd call someone and have them done after another week and a half, but at this point I was done with his BS and I left with my ruined trousers and no refund. Absolutely shameful service and a terrible, terrible business...
