Smugglers Retreat Table Table

A lovely meal today at Smugglers Retreat. Good tasty food and at a good price. It was a really hot day, but the restaurant was air conditioned and very pleasant to relax in.
Our service was excellent, you could not have asked for two more friendly and helpful staff. Lauren and Kerri were super lovely and a credit to Table Table. Will definitely eat there again.

Bad day at the ranch.. Long delays for drinks and food was not great. We were warned that there were possible delays due to new equipment. We agreed, but the quality of the food was mostly poor when it arrived.

My daughter's burger was dry and inedible. See picture. My pie was good but the mash was cold. Another meal of chicken goujons and chips was cold. It was sent back and reappeared after a while, hotter but with soft chips like the plate had been microwaved.

We complained, had the burger meal refunded, but were told that they'd warned us that there was new equipment. We had to point out that a delay was acceptable, as we had been warned, but inedible food was not.

We decided against having puddings and asked for the bill. The children's meals were going to be more expensive because they hadn't had the puddings for the children's meal deal, so we ordered them and they turned out to be lovely. So do ensure that you get all three courses.

So they did get one thing right and the servers were pleasant. The food on another table looked nice, so was it that were unlucky, or just ordered the wrong food?

Shall think twice about going back.

Our lovely waitress Lauren W made this a perfect evening. She was witty and made the evening fun for my family and I. The food was delicious (I had the fish and chips). The cocktails were beautiful and the atmosphere family friendly and relaxed. A perfect experience

The worst roast I’ve ever had… gravy was just brown water and tasteless, veg so bland and left stewing in water, roast potatoes pale, don’t even think they where roasted… I couldn’t eat it so asked for chips instead. Staff where nice but didn’t check back on us whilst eating so I had to wait to ask for something else when I saw someone. Kids didn’t eat much, neither the husband… very disappointing considering it was a birthday treat.

I had sunday carvery and the food was really good. Moist meat, crispy potatoes
And lots of choice of vegetables. I paid extra £1 for a larger plate, not for extra food but because Its messy when having a smaller plate. Plus you got a pig in blanket! I knocked off a star because the staff looked stressed and didn't look like they were enjoying the job! We also tried to converse with the chef/carver but he ignored us. Someone needs to tell him to smile a bit. It really helps with the overall atmosphere.

The Smugglers Inn, it is what it is. A no thrills pub/restaurant with basic pub grub. However the staff are friendly the food arrives on time and the prices are very reasonable. We have used this place on several occasions while staying in the Premier Inn attached. On our latest visit we managed to eat early and grab the meal deal at £8.99 for two mains. A great deal, cheers.

I sat down after a number of hours of driving and relaxed. Friendly attentive staff with good quality of food. In other words, warm and tasty. The atmosphere was friendly and jovial. I’ve visited a number of times since.

Stopped for breakfast Sunday am.
Very comprehensive menu of normal English breakfast fare and "continental".
Currently freshly cooked so much better than a buffet.
Nice and clean with very welcoming staff
